Schertz location 08/11/2026. My family and I have been going there for trivia almost every Tuesday evening. My wife and I spend between $30.00 to $50.00 at least every time. The other members of our family an additional $50.00 to $70.00. I will say HEB is usually very customer friendly and service is usually amazing.. However for the past 5 to 6 weeks at this location there have been ongoing issues every Tuesday night. They are always out of something, one evening all they had left was chicken tenders and sausage. Or, the computers were not working another evening. The gentleman that usually is at the counter is personable. but; doesn't always seem to know what is happening in the kitchen or is overwhelmed and can't help all the customers. That said this evening in question I ordered for my wife and myself. I ordered 1/2 lb of turkey, 1/4 lb of brisket, med size beans and med size mac and cheese. Also a large tea. I made sure it came with bread and pickles. My wife and I don't usually eat onions. Recently we had tried the Korean ribs and my wife really enjoyed the kimchi pickles. Therefore, I specifically asked the gentleman at the counter to get kimchi pickles instead of the regular pickles (which are also very good). He stated that he didn't have a way to add to computer but he would "ask" the kitchen to add them to the tray/order. I take my seat with the family and we begin the game of trivia. My name is called that the order is ready. I go to pick it up and notice there are no kimchi pickles on the tray. I ask the gentleman at the counter now where the kimchi pickles are and I am told there would be an upcharge for the pickles. Now please let me back up a moment. This is not the same gentleman that took the order. As I have previously stated he is at least a happy and generally polite man. This gentleman is anything but. I have noticed him on multiple occasions (tall, black hair and beard. wearing black pants , shoes and shirt.). Every time I have worked with or seen him he seems to be in a perpetually bad mood or having a bad day. Just a miserable person/personality. He should not be in a customer facing or any type of managerial role. Just rude and miserable. I explained to the gentleman that when I ordered I asked for them and would have been happy to pay for them. That I was told by the gentleman on the counter that he would "ask" the kitchen. That gentleman was pouring beers and stated that he forgot. No apologies, no anything but a smart response from "the man in black". I take the items to the table and realize that there is no bread. I go back to the counter and ask for the bread. I get my bread and neither of the gentleman have an apology of anything else to say about either issue. As a matter of fact it seems as if they couldn't care less or be bothered that they scre3wed up and don't really care that there was even an issue. Now again i understand that everyone has a bad day. So, I went back to my table and the more I thought about it, the more frustrated and angry I became. This wasn't just one time this was ongoing issues for more than a moth. I went to the front of the store, the main store and asked for the general manger, He/she was not there. They asked what it was about and called the True Bar B Q and asked the gentleman to come up. I explained I had come to the front because they were the problem in the restaurant. They called a store "leader", he name was Jenny. I spoke with her and explained the issues. Finally an apology. She said she would look into it. I'm not sure i really believe that. We will definitely go back, but; I will buy something from the store, not from those gentleman ever again. The trivia is fun and the food is good to great on occasions. The meats are inconsistent in quality. However; the service in the True Bar B Q is absolutely terrible at its best. Again; this is not just one experience. this is the cumulation of multiple visits and HEB's failure at True Bar B Q to get better. Pleas don't waste your time on the Schertz location, with these wonderful gentlemen.

I was very impressed with the BBQ! It's hard to believe such high-quality barbecue comes from a grocery store. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly, and the sides were just as delicious. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. It's also incredibly convenient to grab an outstanding BBQ meal while doing your grocery shopping. I definitely plan on coming back again. I only wish every H-E-B had a True Texas BBQ because it's that good. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great Texas barbecue at a reasonable price!

We love the ribs and the poblano and cheese sausage. It was great. We think it was kind of pricey.
