  I’ve been going to Tillo’s for years and was really excited when this location opened. Unfortunately, it’s been a disappointing experience, and it seems like the lack of training is becoming a recurring issue. I’ve visited about 12 times now. The last three times I’ve ordered an Italian beef with Whiz, they’ve put the Whiz on the side instead of on the sandwich. They even did this at the pre-opening event, which I overlooked since the staff was new. After that, things seemed to improve for a while. Then I went back tonight, ordered an Italian beef with Whiz through the drive-thru, and instead they put mozzarella on it. They also forgot the side of gravy I requested. The mozzarella completely changed the flavor of the sandwich, and it honestly wasn’t good—I ended up throwing away half of it. Please spend more time training your employees to listen carefully to customers and prepare orders correctly. If someone orders Whiz on an Italian beef, it should go on the sandwich unless they specifically ask for it on the side. That’s how a Chicago-style Italian beef is traditionally served, and it’s disappointing to see these same mistakes happening repeatedly.

  Chicago transplant excited to enjoy some great Portillo’s food. It’s a Sunday during lunch but our food was taking very long. Other groups coming in way behind us all got their food. When asked staff they had no idea on the status of the order. I politely waited longer and after another long while asked again to be told it was being worked on. Also there was a group a the table next to us with their dog literally at the table. In consideration of other customers (allergies, dog hair) and it’s the law they could have used the outside patio. The dog was not even on a leash and when mentioned to 3 different staff the issue was ignored and we were told “does it bother you”. I have 3 dogs myself but would not take them and sit them at a restaurant table with me close enough to have their nose by the table as that’s a sanitary health concern. Disappointed the restaurant staff disregarded this concern

  I had a great experience at Portillo’s! The food was fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. Everything was made just right, and you can tell the team takes pride in what they do. A special thank you to Mike, the manager, for being so welcoming, professional, and making sure everything ran smoothly. Bob was also incredibly friendly, attentive, and provided outstanding customer service with a smile. It’s always nice to visit a place where the food is consistently great and the staff truly cares about the guests. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

  As a native Chicagoan, I have been wanting to eat at this new Schertz location. However, each time the lines have been around the building and the parking lot super packed. I happen to be in the area on a week night and took a chance, glad I did! I walked right in and only waited about 5 min to order. I had the beef sandwich and my husband had the dog. The food is good and the taste was on par with the original one in Chicago. Glad to have another Chicago-area restaurant here in the SA area. This location is about an hour from my house but whenever I am on this side of town I will definitely be back.

  We love the place. It's different in alot of ways. We went yesterday, late afternoon. Food flavor is great, just mass produced and commercialized now. Prices are what's expected now days. Not easy to get that "Chicago flavor vibe." Service is pretty good. We'll be curious though, to see what it's like when there aren't 4000 people there all at once. Probably excellent! Atmosphere? Considering the masses, and zero direction from staff to help with seating, you have to have your game face on to find a place where you and those you came with can sit together. (Highly advise visiting in small numbers) Probably 30+ employees in the food prep area, 2 bussers but NO ushers/assistance/direction. Don't think that was in the grand opening plans. Hope it gets more organized even before the hype fades off. We will be eating there again though. It's tolerable and it's worth it.
