- JDjohn doe doe2 days ago5.0Mattenga’s Pizzeria was one of the highlights of my San Antonio food trip. I went with the Half Hot Honey Bear and Half All Cheese, and both sides delivered. The Hot Honey Bear was the standout for me, an excellent balance of sweet, heat, and savory flavors that made every bite memorable. The All Cheese was a huge hit with my kiddos. Sometimes a simple cheese pizza is the true test, and they absolutely loved it. The quality of the cheese, sauce, and crust all came together perfectly. Only downside was the pizza being a little overly greasy. The pizza is a little on the pricey side, but the flavor and quality make up for it. You can tell they put care into their ingredients and preparation. The crust had the perfect texture, and the overall taste was a step above your average pizza spot. Great pizza, great service, and a place I’ll definitely keep on my San Antonio list. If you’re looking for a quality pie, Mattenga’s is worth checking out.
- JRJordan RueterJul 2, 20262.0I was very disappointed with my experience ordering from Mattenga's Pizzeria. I ordered one gluten-free pizza and a salad for delivery to the Hill Country Resort. The estimated delivery time was 30 minutes, but after waiting in the lobby for over an hour after order was "picked up", I learned from another guest who had ordered at an earlier time that the deliveries are handed off to DoorDash, making their time estimates unreliable. When the order finally arrived, the pizza was cold and soggy, and the salad was delivered without any utensils—something you would expect when delivering to a hotel where guests may not have access to silverware. To make matters worse, after the driver, Jamal, delivered my order, he started to drive away without delivering the other guest's order that he had also picked up. Thankfully, he was stopped before he left, and the other guests eventually received their food. The long delay, poor food quality upon arrival, lack of utensils, and delivery issues made for a very disappointing experience. Unfortunately, I can't recommend ordering delivery from Mattenga's Pizzeria based on this experience.

The girl at the register was a new employee and was not able to figure out how to order my pizza as half supreme and half pepperoni. I’m not sure why she couldn’t just turn around and ask someone, or tell them to make it that way, but I just agreed to make the entire pizza a supreme because of the time it was taking. So I tried to order it with extra pepperoni, but she literally brought out a small cup with raw pepperoni slices to my table, and said “here is your side of pepperoni.” I’ve never seen that before but it was just a misunderstanding because she is still learning, so no big deal. She was very polite and friendly, and the food came out nicely for our whole table. The salad was good also. We will visit again.

They go above and beyond to make sure customers leave happy. There are a couple logistic issues I think could be better (being silverware with food or make it readily available and have parmesean/red pepper shakers instead of packets), but I definitely wouldn't let that take away from my 5 star review. Again, great food here and awesome staff! P.S. the texas ranch is amazing! I need that recipe!

It was pretty good, only reason why It didn’t get a 5 star is because the pizza was not well done as I requested. We ordered ahead and decided we wanted to dine in once we arrived. We grabbed our food and sat down, opening the box I was a little hesitant because it looked a little light for being well done. We gave it a try and ultimately decided it wasn’t well done. I went back to the counter with my slice of pizza just to verify if what I had was infact well done or not. I felt as if I was bothering the staff because they avoided me at first then once someone came over they agreed to run it back through the oven for me.. it then was the perfect amount of crisp we were looking for!
