- MLMarisol Lopez5 days ago1.0I have shopped at H-E-B many times and have never had a negative experience until now. Unfortunately, my experience at this particular location was extremely disappointing, and the lack of professionalism displayed by both the manager and another employee was unacceptable. I accidentally left my card behind, so I asked if my groceries could be held while I went to get it. The employee at self-checkout gave me the impression that my items would be held. When I returned, I asked for my groceries and was informed that they had been taken back. What made the situation even more frustrating was the employee’s rude and confrontational attitude. I told her I was only gone 20min. She responded “Well what do you want me to do” and “We can’t hold your stuff forever,” which was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. I then saw the manager standing there, expecting her to address the situation appropriately. Instead, she offered no HELP and suggested that someone had probably already purchased my groceries. I was shocked by this response. Rather than addressing the employee’s disrespectful behavior or attempting to find a reasonable solution, the manager stood by while the employee speaking to me in an unacceptable/unprofessional manner.There is absolutely no excuse for an employee to speak to a customer in such a disrespectful manner, especially in front of a manager who makes no effort to intervene. As a customer, I expect to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. I understand that stores have policies regarding holding merchandise, but those policies should be communicated clearly and respectfully. I was not expecting my groceries to be held indefinitely. I simply expected clear communication and professional customer service. I also want to clarify that I checked the time, and the entire process took approximately 33 minutes—not an hour. I had my grandchildren with me, which understandably made the process of retrieving my card take a little longer.
