  Brenner's jas a wonderful location on the Riverwalk. The service was excellent. I ordered the Filet cooked medium and was very disappointed the filet arrived obviously under cooked but still cut into it at the request of the server. Rare. It came back from the kitchen with the manager, this time medium rare at best...so ba k to the kit hen again. Meanwhile the sides were getting cold. No consideration from the staff. The filet arrived third time as ordered. I probably won't return.

  Our experience at Brenner’s in San Antonio was extremely disappointing, especially considering we were visiting from out of town to celebrate our one-year wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in, we felt unwelcome. We were dressed nicely—my husband was wearing nice golf shorts and a polo, and I was wearing a dress—and the hostess immediately looked us up and down before asking if we were aware of the dress code. We genuinely had no idea that my husband’s shorts were not permitted, especially given how nicely he was dressed and the fact that we have dined at other upscale restaurants such as Jeff Ruby’s without ever having an issue. He was asked to go back to the hotel and change and we explained that we were from out of town and that he had not brought pants because of the weather. We were then told we could only sit in the bar area or on the patio because of his attire. What made this even more frustrating was that we could see people inside wearing jeans and even regular T-shirts. We agreed to sit on the patio, but unfortunately, the service did not improve from there. We sat for at least 15 minutes without being acknowledged. When our waitress finally came over, she asked what kind of water we wanted. We simply said regular water, only to later discover that we had been charged $10 for bottled water because she had poured it from a bottle. That was never explained to us. We also noticed that bread was being brought to other tables when they were seated, but we never received any. My husband eventually asked if we could have a basket since we hadn’t been given one. We were then charged $5 for the bread on our bill. The most frustrating part of the evening happened with dessert. After our meal—which, to be fair, was very good—another employee came over and repeatedly asked if we wanted dessert. We politely declined several times and explained that we had already had dessert back at our hotel. He continued pushing, but we continued saying no. Shortly afterward, our waitress came over with spoons, and we initially thought maybe they were doing something thoughtful for our anniversary. Instead, she told us she was still waiting on our crème brûlée. We were completely confused because we never ordered crème brûlée. Sure enough, there was a charge for it on our bill. When we asked our waitress about it, she told us she thought she had overheard us telling the other employee that we wanted it, so she went ahead and ordered it. The dessert literally arrived at our table as we were trying to explain that we never ordered it. We told her we were too full and did not want it because we had never requested it in the first place. Her response was to apologize and say she would take it back so it could be removed from the bill. We were honestly stunned. It was her mistake, yet instead of simply leaving the dessert for us as a courtesy or offering another solution, it was taken away. The food itself was good, but good food does not make up for poor service and an uncomfortable experience, especially when you’re celebrating a milestone occasion. Our reservation specifically noted that we were celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary, and absolutely nothing was done to acknowledge or make the occasion feel special. We came to Brenner’s expecting an upscale dining experience and left feeling like an inconvenience. We’ve had significantly better experiences at Jeff Ruby’s, where the service and attention to special occasions actually make you feel valued as a guest. We were visiting San Antonio specifically for our anniversary, and unfortunately, Brenner’s ended up being one of the least memorable parts of our trip—not because of the food, but because of how we were treated and how poorly the evening was handled.

  Excelente servicio por parte del chef Ramses, fue la primera ves visitando el lugar con mi familia, somos foráneos y no entendemos el idioma por lo cual el muy amable nos atendió y nos ayudó a elegir la mejor opción para degustar y disfrutar de mi cena de cumpleaños.

  This is a gem of a restaurant on the Riverwalk. We came for my birthday and were able to sit out on the balcony right over the Riverwalk. What an amazing atmosphere. The trees were lit up and it made for a fun and romantic dinner. The reviews were really good and spot on. The food was so flavorful! We had the wedge salad, the shrimp, burnt ends brisket, and oysters for an appetizer. I recommend them all. We got the 10 oz filet and the ribeye. The filet was better IMO. We skipped dessert due to being too full. The service is attentive, cordial, and professional. I enjoyed everything about the experience. Absolutely will be back if I am ever in San Antonio again.

  Destiny R was our server and she's an 11/10 going above and beyond. She made great recommendations. We enjoyed the crab cake, Japanese wagyu, lobster bisque, prime rib, brussel sprouts, white cheddar Mac n cheese and chocolate diva. Another great thing we appreciated was that she asked if we'd like to keep a table set for my brother, whose birthday we were celebrating (he has passed for a few years now)-that was awesome and something we never really thought of, only eating a steak house on his birthday because he loved his steak. She took a new tradition of ours and made it extremely enjoyable and memorable. We look forward to seeing her again! We also would like to thank Carlos for taking our family picture out front when we were leaving. Brenner's has great service and hospitality all around.
