With high-quality made-to-order burgers, a ‘come as you are’ environment and a strange reverence for Chuck Norris, there’s no place else quite like Twisted Root. Way back before ‘gourmet burgers’ was a thing, Chefs Jason Boso & Quincy Hart decided to build a restaurant around half-pound, fresh ground burgers with a menu that allowed customers to build their own burgers with a list of crazy and inventive toppings. The two met in culinary school, after jobs in stock brokerages and telephone line repair. After paying their dues working the line at The Four Seasons & Pappas Bros, Jason & Quincy finally opened Twisted Root Burger Co. in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, Texas in 2006. Twisted Root appeared on the second season of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri (2009) and suddenly Twisted Root was a dining destination in Dallas. While Twisted Root Burger Co. has seen incredible growth, Jason & Quincy have stuck to their roots and their senses of humor, using a hands-on approach to high-quality, fresh food in an casual atmosphere with tons of personality.

Such a great and unique atmosphere, ordering was a breeze, and the my burger was fantastic. Nothing crazy but you could tell they were handcrafted and tasted fresh. If you’re in the mood for a good solid burger, check this place out

The food was good however one small tomato and one small onion with a slice of lettuce is not Texas. When they call your call ticket to get your food they talked very fast and loud, very hard to understand.

Napkins needed to be stocked. Some of the tables and floors needed to be cleaned. I felt like we had just come in after a huge rush, but it was barely lunchtime. Not up to their usual standard.
- SSStephanieSep 5, 20262.0It’s a shame to have to give a bad rating but this place has gone downhill so bad. The food is just okay when it used to be amazing. The service at the bar is horrible. The girl kept going away from the bar disappearing for 10-15 minutes at a time and looked like she was having a miserable evening. Some kitchen staff were literally sitting on the floor not doing anything (you can see inside the kitchen entrance from the bar area). Other staff outside throwing water bottles at each other chasing each other around. To be fair maybe it was break time for them. It just seems like staff could care less about being there. This used to be an amazing place to come but now I won’t be returning.
