  I wish I could review the food, but we were shooed away by the manager (portly older man with grey hair) before we could go in. My husband and I were waiting outside with our small dog enjoying the weather, waiting for the store to open (we were going to sit in the patio area). While we were waiting the manager came outside and told us, “Take your dog somewhere else to use the bathroom, not in front of my store.” Our dog was not using the bathroom, we were just waiting. I tried to explain this, but he didn’t seem like he wanted to hear it so we left. I hope they don’t treat all their customers this way.

  No one manning the front counter at 2:30pm. I took my time to find out what I wanted to order and then stood waiting for 5 minutes at the front counter. There were staff members in the kitchen working away and two servers standing-by not doing much. They knew I was there bc they looked and the kitchen staff were saying “thanks for coming!” to diners leaving the restaurant. I’m fine if you’re busy, just acknowledge that I’m there. I would have waited 10 minutes more if I was given a time estimate. I guess they don’t care or don’t have good management.

  The gentleman at the counter is knowledgeable and so kind. I always enjoy seeing him at the counter delivering fantastic service.

  Review of Newk's Eatery Visit: Saturday lunch (April 18th, 2026) During my recent Saturday lunch visit, the most noticeable issue was the food quality, particularly the soups. The sodium levels were extremely high, to the point where the salt flavor overwhelmed everything else. Excessive salt not only affects taste but also raises concerns about preservation, as salt is commonly used as a preservative. The consistency of the saltiness from visit to visit suggests these soups may be prepared in a way that prioritizes shelf life rather than freshness. Overall, the meal felt more assembled than prepared, with ingredients appearing pre-cut and pre-packaged rather than freshly made. Equally concerning were the management practices observed. There appears to be a conflict of interest with the general manager’s spouse also serving in a managerial role, which can undermine trust and professionalism. More troubling, the general manager was observed raising their voice at employees during busy periods. In a customer-facing environment, leadership should remain composed and supportive. Additionally, managers frequently seemed disengaged, often on their phones instead of actively supervising operations or assisting staff. The restaurant heavily promotes its food as “fresh,” yet most items appear to arrive pre-prepared, pre-cut vegetables, portioned proteins, and ready-made soups, leaving staff to assemble rather than cook meals on-site. While pre-prepared ingredients are common in chain restaurants, marketing them as fresh without clear context can feel misleading to customers who expect in-house preparation. Overall: This location shows clear signs of inconsistent food quality and questionable management practices. Until improvements are made in leadership professionalism, food consistency, and transparency about preparation standards, it is difficult to recommend this restaurant with confidence.
