My wife and I recently visited Papa's on the Border in Rockwall and had a great experience. Our server, Nilda, was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit.
The food was delicious, the portions were good, and the prices were very affordable. In fact, we felt it offered a better value than some of the other Papa's restaurant concepts. Everything from the food to the service exceeded our expectations.
This morning, we learned that all of these locations will be closing again, which was very disappointing to hear. While it's unfortunate for customers who enjoyed this new concept, it's even more concerning to think about the employees who may be losing their jobs with very little notice.
The restaurant had great food, great service, and great prices. It's a shame to see it go, especially considering the impact on both the employees and the loyal customers who supported it. We wish the staff the best and hope they land on their feet quickly.

Unfortunately Kaelin was off today. She must have been tired judging by the 327 reviews she got yesterday, so we were served by Jacob who did just fine. This was our first time eating since Pappasito bought the place. Being a long time fan of Pappasitos, I was excited to try it. My wife and I split a single serving of fajitas. The portion was generous. Imma big boy and really didn't wanna split a meal, but my wife was treating me like a third grader and made me split a meal with her. It was plenty for both of us and the chicken and beef were both on point. And that fajita butter sent them over the top. The smoky pintos were very good as well. I would advise declining to sit at a two person booth. One order of fajitas, the set up, beans and rice, and a basket of chips covered every square inch of the table. If we had ordered two orders, there's no way it would fit on the table. I'll be back, probably by myself and order my very own meal like a big boy and maybe get a draft.
Came for dinner with a friend & it was my first time visiting the new Pappasitos on the Border and Nilda made it absolutely unforgettable!
She was so sweet and amazing! Since I was new to the menu, I needed a little guidance, and she was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. She walked me through the options, gave fantastic recommendations, and provided top-tier service!
the margarita flight was amazing !
Because of Nilda, I'll definitely be back!

Apparent growing pains and very questionable policies. We gave this place a shot now that they’re under Pappa’s ownership. The restaurant was slammed on a Thursday at 5:30. We brought both of the kids, and had to wait for a table (no problem at all). After we sat down we told the waitress we heard it was Happy Hour Mon-Fri 4-7, and wanted some drinks. She told us we would have to move to the bar area if we wanted happy hour. I thought that was super weird, so we just got waters and ordered our meals. The two tables on either side of us got seated and ironically asked the exact same questions that we did to the wait staff - and both separately expressed that it was a very odd policy.
You could see lots of wait staff and tons of managers walking around. Yet there were issues with our food, and seemingly almost everyone around us all had issues as well. I will say that the food tasted great, and was much better than On The Border. The quality was good but obviously not the exact same as Pappasito’s which costs more. It also Tasted much more like Pappasito’s - which is a long drive away from Rockwall.
Other odd things that happened: they only brought 3 tortillas with the Fajitas for 2. We asked for more and they said it only comes with 3 tortillas….Strange. Also, they aren’t allowed to bring you straws unless you ask for them - per our waitress.
All in all, I would still come back - but maybe wait until they have all the kinks worked out. Because I think it is a welcome change for Rockwall! I just hope they re-evaluate their bizarre Happy Hour policies.
Got here at lunch rush 3 weeks after the changeover….service was off to a slow start but w/o asking the area manager stopped by to check on us and was very pleasant & immediately after, w/o prodding, our server was checking on us and from there (w/o any complaining) our server kicked into high gear & also was delightful. Margaritas, chips & salsa all on point! Chicken/shrimp fajitas are amazing!!! The cheese enchiladas aren’t what they used to be. The enchiladas use to be length of the plate AND full of cheese these were taco size tortillas and just didn't have same flavor. The Guac is really just delicious smashed avocados, good but not guac and queso just ok. Brownie dessert is a YES! We will be back I want to see this grow into 5 stars & military discount.
We all know and trust this brand & I have no doubts it will only get better!
