- MKMatthew Kell2 days ago5.0At babes you choose chicken fried steak or fried chicken. Either choice is good. The sides are corn, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. Food and sides are family style and sides are refillable. I've been a fan of babes for years. Definitely worth a visit.

It started going down hill in 2024 and it seems like they are cutting cost with cheap low quality food. Last night, I went to a location that has all the sides to find out they changed the corn and green beans. Both disgusting. The corn is no longer creamed and the change to the green beans was disappointing. Neither crave worthy like they were in the past...meat went down hill a long time ago and that hasn't improved. I am leaving a review on this location in Roanoke because in the past we had some bad experiences at this location and I wanted to add those experiences to my over all review of Babes Chicken. On a previous occasion at Roanoke we had a large roach fall on our table during lunch. We had hoped it was an isolated event, but went back later and seen more roaches on the second visit. On that visit, Olivia was our server and she had an attitude and we witnessed her bullying co-worker...very mean girl energy. The manager Jordan lacked professionalism as well and made excuses not apologies, so Roanoke officially is not a location we will return to in the future and with food quality going down not sure if we will be returning to any Babes in the near future. I will say the manager at Sanger, name not known was top tier in our experience last night. It is really sad to see such a classic restaurant go down hill.
