  I would like to share a very concerning experience involving a possible attempted car theft outside H-E-B. Around 9:00 PM, I went to the store briefly with my children. Since it was already late and I had my children with me, I wanted to park near the entrance, close to the children’s parking area. Unfortunately, those spaces were no longer available—the signs had been removed and the area was marked with “No Parking.” I did not want to park directly in front of the entrance or violate any parking rules, so I parked in an available space just a few cars away. About ten minutes later, when we returned, I noticed an older white SUV parked directly across from my vehicle. The SUV was running, and two men were sitting inside. Because it was dark, I could not clearly see their faces. At first, it simply caught my attention. We got into our car, which had been perfectly fine before we went into the store, but suddenly it would not start. The dashboard displayed warnings related to the braking and electrical systems, and shortly afterward, the entire dashboard shut down. Because the SUV across from us seemed suspicious under the circumstances, I immediately took photos and recorded video of it. When the two men noticed that I was recording, they quickly left. I also noticed that their vehicle did not appear to have an official license plate displayed on the front. I cannot know for certain what caused my vehicle’s malfunction or whether these individuals were connected to it. However, the situation was extremely concerning. I couldn’t help thinking: What if we had returned a little later and the car had been stolen? Even more frightening, what if we had interrupted an attempted theft and encountered someone who was armed while my children were with me? We asked whether H-E-B had security personnel on site and were told that there was no security officer, only surveillance cameras. Cameras can certainly be helpful after an incident, but situations like this make me believe that a visible security presence could provide additional protection and deterrence. This is the first time I have experienced something like this in our area, and I would like to encourage our neighbors and community to work together toward safer solutions. Problems that are ignored can sometimes grow into much larger problems. Thank you to everyone who takes these concerns seriously and helps keep our community safe. I also hope H-E-B will consider taking additional security measures so that customers and families can feel safer while shopping, especially during evening hours. Unfortunately, my vehicle is still experiencing problems, and I now have to take it to the dealership, which will also involve diagnostic and repair costs. May God protect all of us and our families.

  Great prices and quality foods. It is better than Kroger ir Walmart. I shop here almost everyday for groceries.

  Cannot go wrong with HEB ready meals after an out of town trip! Love the lemon garlic pasta salmon. Delish!!
