1 STAR – McDonald’s in Quinlan, Texas. Y’all really need to do better!
My son received a McDonald’s gift card for his birthday, and he was so excited to finally get to use it. After I got off work, we headed to McDonald’s. I placed my order through the app, and he ordered his food at the drive-through so he could use his birthday gift card. Everything started out just fine.
At the first window, the young man working was very nice. He repeated our order, I confirmed everything was correct, and I explained that we were picking up two separate orders. No problem there.
However, when we pulled up to the next window, the young lady working (wearing a pink vest, and whose name started with a B) practically shoved a bag out the window and said, “Here.” I sat there looking at her, waiting for some kind of acknowledgment, and finally had to explain that I also had a mobile order to pick up. She then asked what the order was, turned around, and relayed the information to the kitchen.
We left, only to realize that part of our order was missing. My son’s McFlurry had been forgotten. So, we had to turn around and go back through the drive-through.
Once again, the young man at the speaker was pleasant and helpful. I explained what was missing, and he told us to pull forward to the first window.
This is where things went from frustrating to downright ridiculous.
I handed the young lady our receipt, and her response was, “What is that?” with an attitude. I explained that my son’s McFlurry had been left out of the order and showed her the receipt to verify that we had paid for it. The look on her face and her overall attitude made it seem as though I was somehow inconveniencing HER by asking for something WE HAD ALREADY PAID FOR!
She said something to someone in the back in Spanish, gave me a dirty look, made the McFlurry, and handed it to me.
Listen, I understand mistakes happen. Nobody expects every order to be perfect every single time. What I do expect is basic courtesy and customer service, especially when a customer is having to come BACK because something was left out of their order.
I’m honestly so tired of people working in customer service treating customers like we’re an inconvenience. It’s not our fault you’re at work. It’s not our fault you have to correct an order that was made incorrectly. That’s part of the job!
What’s even more frustrating is that I’ve gotten so accustomed to being treated this way that I don’t even have the energy to react anymore. And that’s sad.
Here’s what really gets me: YOUR MORNING CREW IS AMAZING!
I go through this McDonald’s almost every morning on my way to work. The mornings are absolutely slammed, with cars wrapped around the building, and those employees are consistently nice, kind, polite, friendly, smiling, and helpful. Even when they’re incredibly busy, they manage to treat customers with respect.
So I know this location is capable of providing good customer service!
There was hardly anyone in the drive-through when we went through, not once but TWICE, and yet we were treated as though simply being there was an inconvenience.
McDonald’s in Quinlan, you really need to do better. A missing McFlurry wasn’t the issue. The attitude, the lack of courtesy, and the way a paying customer was treated were the issue.
And honestly, it shouldn’t matter whether you’re serving one customer or a hundred. CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD NEVER BE OPTIONAL!
