  Molded produce and expired items are their biggest issues. You have to check EVERY single thing you purchase. Blackberries look ok in the clamshell. Who wants to have to open those to check the quality? At Tom Thumb on Alma in Plano, I’m afraid you HAVE to look inside. If you don’t, you’re buying a box of mold I checked a dozen packages of Community Coffee and found 5 of them had expired from May 2026 to the end of July. That’s an unacceptable ratio of good to bad product. Don’t even get me started on the single serve yoghurts! This store has gone from a solid 4 stars to zero (if I could!) in the last several years. The front end lady they have now is just a crank. I feel sorry for the front end guy. He’s seems nice, but it’s not enough. HEB is 5 miles further. Rao marinara that costs $9 at Thumb is $6 at HEB. This is becoming a no-brainer.

  Longtime customer at this store and I will never return after the alleged customer service I received this evening from Banda, who is allegedly a manager. He has the worst customer service skills I've ever encountered and, as a company, I'd reconsider his employment or you're going to lose customers. He is rude, stand offish, and arrogant.

  To Whom It May Concern, I am a frequent customer at your Tom Thumb store and shop there regularly because I have always found it to be a quiet, peaceful, and enjoyable place to shop. Unfortunately, my experience on August 3, 2026, was very disappointing. While checking out at the self-checkout area between approximately 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., I picked up a few extra brown paper bags along with the plastic bags after purchasing my groceries. A young man with a shaved head who was working the self-checkout approached me in a very rude and confrontational manner. He asked, “What are you going to do with those bags? We have a budget here at Tom Thumb, and I can’t let you take those bags.” His tone was disrespectful, and I felt embarrassed and harassed. Before I could even respond, he took the bags out of my shopping cart. I have never been treated this way at any grocery store. In my experience, customers are often allowed to take an extra bag or two when needed, especially after making a purchase. It wasn’t the bags that upset me—it was the way I was treated. As a loyal customer, I expected to be spoken to with courtesy and respect. This interaction left me feeling unwelcome and very disappointed. I hope you will address this matter with 🥺your employee so that no other customer has to experience the same treatment. Unless this issue is taken seriously, I will have to reconsider shopping at Tom Thumb in the future, and I will certainly share my experience with others. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I hope to hear from you regarding this matter.
