I am writing to formally report a highly concerning incident that occurred today transaction at your store Tom Thumb, 7801 Alma Dr, involving a cashier identified as “Kevin.” I have been a loyal customer of Tom Thumb for many years, and this experience has severely damaged my trust and confidence in your company. During checkout, I handed Kevin a $50 bill as payment for my purchase. However, instead of accurately entering the payment into the register system, Kevin intentionally entered the transaction as though I had provided two separate $20 bills. As a direct result of this improper entry, I was shorted $10 in change. Initially, I did not notice the discrepancy. Moments later, after reviewing my receipt and mentally recounting the transaction, I realized the payment entry did not match the cash tendered. The receipt clearly reflected an incorrect cash amount entered into the system. I immediately confronted Kevin regarding the issue. Rather than acknowledging the mistake or attempting to resolve the matter professionally, Kevin falsely claimed that I had only provided two $20 bills. It is important to emphasize that this was not a simple clerical error. Entering two $20 bills instead of one $50 bill requires an affirmative and deliberate action at the register. Such conduct raises serious concerns regarding dishonesty, potential theft, cash-handling fraud, and possible embezzlement against both the customer and Tom Thumb itself. Had I not carefully reviewed my receipt and challenged the discrepancy, I would have permanently lost money due to Kevin’s actions. Only after I demanded that management review the surveillance footage and began raising my voice regarding the seriousness of the matter did Kevin return the missing funds. His behavior demonstrated a complete disregard for customer trust, professionalism, and the integrity expected of an employee handling financial transactions. I strongly urge Tom Thumb management to conduct a full investigation into this incident, including an immediate review of the register logs and security camera footage corresponding to the timestamp on the attached today's receipt 05/08 @ 16:48 Kevin’s conduct not only created a hostile and negative shopping experience, but also exposed the company to reputational harm and potential liability if similar conduct has occurred with other customers. As a long-time customer, I find this incident extremely disturbing and unacceptable. The trust between customers and retail employees is fundamental, particularly when employees are entrusted with handling cash transactions. Kevin’s actions undermined that trust entirely. Unless this matter is addressed appropriately and seriously, I am considering discontinuing my business with Tom Thumb and taking my shopping elsewhere. Please confirm receipt of this complaint and advise me regarding the outcome of your investigation

Tom Thumb (Safeway) is nice to look at but beware! They are notorious for placing higher priced items conspicuously close to for sale signs. It has happened several times. Just today I visited their bakery. There are signs in at least two places saying single layer cakes for $5. Right under those signs is a whole section of, you guessed it, signal layer cakes that are NOT included in the sale. Shame! Shame! Safeway! No wonder HEB is kicking your ass!

Im so glad that I found this place, as I am rather new to the area. I had a taste for some turkey necks and H.E.B., Wal-Mart, nor Krogers had any. This was the only place that had them this past Saturday. All Is Well

Cool place to go to, but they no longer carry baskets for quick shopping. Saddest thing I've came across all year... still love the place though no hand baskets ever again they told me today..
