This restaurant has been in business for a long time so they must be doing something right. I used to come here all the time for their excellent and cheap lunch specials. That was a long time ago though. Nowadays their food is still good, but much pricier, which is understandable. The interior is small with only a few tables so their volume will never be big so they need to offset costs somehow.

My partner and I arrived in for a date night and had a pretty middle of the road experience. First, the good: it’s a unique, obviously locally owned place, with food I can genuinely say I’ve never seen or tried before in the area. I got a cubano, and it was a large portion that I was able to take home part of for another meal. I think the pickles could’ve been more pickle and less cucumber taste, but I loved the mustard and overall it was a fantastic sandwich. The guy who served us was kind and even made sure our drinks were cool for us. The less good: it’s a bit of a run down vibe inside, and there were leaks and AC failings inside when we were there. The menu is a bit hard to discern if you’re unfamiliar and only available on QR codes at the tables. My bf got a pork dish and mentioned that it was all kind of one note. His dish was more expensive than my sandwich by several dollars and you can see from my picture that he got much less food. Overall, I left feeling kind of wishy washy about this place. Perhaps it would be a great place to order unique delivery from rather than dining in, and I can appreciate the specialty food options overall.

Coming from NJ, I haven't been able to find a good Cubano for years. Finally found my place today. If you're looking for a great Cuban Sandwich or just Cuban/Puerto Rican food in general, this place is the real deal. I got the cafecito, Cubano, fries with their special sauce, and a coconut flan. All excellent. Not one thing was meh or just OK. Every item was perfect. The owners were good people and hospitable as well. And the vibe of the place was authentic and not another cookie cutter soulless restaurant. If you want something a bit out of the ordinary, you owe it to yourself to make a trip. I know I'll be back for sure.

Pretty great: unlike the price. 50 dollars for for 2 sandwiches is a little wild….

The Latin Pig in Plano is a standout spot for Cuban food. It's a true hidden gem located in north Dallas. In a city dominated by fast food chains, it's nice to still have unique family owned places to eat in DFW. The food is terrific, always fresh and flavorful; from the classic Cuban sandwich to the perfectly seasoned pork. Make sure to grab yourself a cup of authentic Cuban coffee too. The friendly, attentive service makes the whole experience even better.
