Visited for breakfast and really liked the option to try individual items from multiple varieties at a reasonable price. It’s definitely a great choice for anyone who wants to sample different dishes without feeling overwhelmed by a full buffet.
If you’re visiting on a weekend, you may have to wait anywhere from 0–20 minutes, depending on the crowd.

The DFW area has seen a surge of pure-veg Indian restaurants lately, especially South Indian spots. Shankar Vilas is the best I've tried so far, beating out Bharat Bhavan and Simply South. It's a must if you love Andhra meals, and the staff is friendly with a great atmosphere.

I have been to this place 4 times since they opened. Every time, its cleanliness and hygiene are deteriorating. Last weekend, I decided that I will never eat there again. I went and ordered the breakfast combo and then noticed that the server was serving Idli to someone at the next table without gloves. Then she brought my breakfast, and before reaching my table, she took one item from my plate and served it to the next table with bare, unwashed, dirty hand.
She was doing all sorts of work in the restaurant with the same bare hand, and I never saw her washing her hands in between. None of the servers wear gloves. They are supposed to change the gloves after each service.
And don't even go to the restroom. Public toilets are better (anyway, only if you can reach the restroom, making your way between thousands of boxes and other random crap)

This is a vegetarian restaurant serving South Indian dishes. We tried the Mysore masala dosa, and it was really good. The portion was generous enough for two people to share.
Overall, we enjoyed the food and the experience!
I am not sure if they don't have enough staff or not, worst maintainance, very dirty, no cleanliness. This is my first and last time visiting shankar vilas. The food during lunch was also mediocre (if the place was maintained neatly, the taste of food would have compensated) items were not hot at all, everything was served lukewarm. Even the poori is like flattened disc as if it was made long time back. It seems like a curry point kind of place, regardless for the ambience and the way people are maintaining the place, it definitely needs upgrade. What's the use of providing decent food without hygiene, cleanliness and proper maintenance. The people who clean the table are also not at all interested in maintaining the place properly. Someone just clean the particles on to the chair that even customers can do. It's better you change it to go place instead of setting up dine in setup for that level of maintainance and cleanliness. Worst had high hopes from the name itself that resonates the place in guntur. Worst experience.
Ambience, service, cleanliness, food everything is not up to the mark.
Sorry not going back again!
