Went in on a Tuesday around 4:30pm. 1 table with a family of 4 in the dining area. Grabbed takeout for my daughter and me. I say all this first, because maybe I just caught them at the wrong time? We ordered the same thing...3 meat plate with chicken, pulled pork and brisket with fried okra and mac & cheese. I grabbed it on my way home so also ordered cowboy bites and a coke. On the drive home, I drank the soda and ate a couple of the cowboy bites, which were really good so I was excited for the meal, although I couldn't smell any hint of BBQ coming from the bag, which is unusual based on my experience with any other BBQ place. Got home and the portions were pretty good for the price. Still no smell of the typical strong, smokey goodness you expect from BBQ, even after opening the togo box...especially brisket. Took one bite and realized why. This was the most awful BBQ I've ever had in my life. No flavor, no seasonings and I'm not exaggerating. It literally tasted like the brisket and chicken had been baked and the pork had been boiled or something. NO FLAVOR AT ALL. Same with the mac & cheese. It tasted like watered down boxed cheese sauce from a can. The fried okra was no better. I've had MUCH better fried okra from Luby's, which caters to senior citizens. The pickles and onions they put on the side were even bad! The pickles were shriveled and mushy and the onions looked like they had been cut and stored a week ago or more. We were so extremely disappointed. Neither of us even ate 1/2 of it. My daughter put hers in the fridge and ended up making a bowl of cheap ramen noodles instead. I closed mine up and I'm sitting here trying to eat it for lunch today but I'm having to drown it in the BBQ sauce that tastes like it's store bought also. For reference, I am a Texan, I grew up in Kemah and have lived in the Houston area most of my life. I prefer to support smaller family owned businesses because they seem to put more effort and love into their food. Pinkerton's is amazing, Flossie's is great, Brookstreet BBQ in Missouri City is another good one, as is No Name BBQ. I really hate bashing someone's family business because it hits way different than complaining about a chain place. But this really felt like someone has given up. I don't know how long they've been in business, but there is no way they got their business going with the level of food they served me yesterday. I hope someone sees this and takes a serious look at what they're putting out there. The quality is definitely not there.
