- TFTim Fisher1 day ago3.0We were a big group and eating there for the first time. We made a reservation and did not like that we could be charged 15 a person if we didn’t show up. Some of the foods were very tasty, other things were ok. Kale slaw: tasty but a little spicy. Mac and cheese delicious. The wings had too much condiment for our taste. One person ordered the fried chicken plate and supposedly came with a breast and a thigh. Plate showed up with two thighs. Attention from server was sub par. Had to ask for refills and lemons too many times. We also did not like that tip was automatic for our group. We don’t know if we’ll go back. Too expensive for a less than great experience.

The Mac and cheese was especially egregious, very hard cold noodles with the cheese just pooling at the bottom. Service wasn’t very good either. Definitely find somewhere else in gruene theres much better spots than this.

Ordered The fried chicken was horrible, sides were cold, deviled eggs are a complete ripoff. I will say, they did try to make it right with a gift card, but the food was so bad that I don't ever want to go back to have to use it. Horrible, horrible, horrible food and service.

We especially love Chris and Wayde, they really go above and beyond to make you feel at home and truly appreciated for choosing birdhouse. Hospitality is always on point when these two are there.
