Disappointing Experience. The Food Seriously Needs Improvement
To say I was disappointed with this restaurant is an understatement. I can overlook many things when trying a new place, but I honestly did not expect the biggest problem to be the food itself especially the complete lack of flavor.
I was traveling between work locations and decided to stop here and give it a try. I had seen the 3.9 star rating beforehand, but I never like judging a restaurant solely by reviews, so I wanted to experience it for myself.
I visited on a Monday around 4 PM, and the restaurant was completely empty I was the only customer there. Given the day and time, I can understand it being slow. I was seated immediately, and the young waitress who helped me was nice, attentive, and took my order quickly. Unfortunately, the food was where everything went downhill.
The chips came with salsa that tasted like red-colored water. It had almost no flavor, seasoning, or even noticeable salt. I also ordered corn, and although the flavor was okay, the texture was strangely slimy.
For my main meal, I ordered the fajita pupusas. I asked if beans could be added, which I thought was a fairly simple request, but I was told they couldn’t do that. No problem I ordered them exactly as they come, with cheese and steak. Unfortunately, I could barely find or taste any steak in them. The pupusas were extremely bland and seemed completely unseasoned.
The cabbage slaw was disappointing as well, and even the traditional vinegar based dressing that normally adds acidity and flavor tasted like watered down liquid with color. At that point, I couldn’t finish my meal because I simply wasn’t enjoying any of it.
Prices were very affordable which I’m not sure is that is where the issues begin.
The restroom was dark but clean, the service was pleasant, and I had no issues with the waitress. My disappointment is entirely with the quality, seasoning, and preparation of the food.
I genuinely hope management takes customer feedback seriously and works on improving the recipes and consistency. When you visit a Latin cuisine restaurant, you expect bold, comforting, well seasoned flavors. Unfortunately, that was completely missing from my experience.
I really wanted to enjoy this place, but based on this visit, I left extremely disappointed.
