Incredible incredible INCREDIBLE. The service was unlike any other. All 4 staff members were equally anxious to help us and guide our experience. Ocean stood out in particular, he seems so invested and confident that my husband and I asked if he was the owner. We went in for 2lbs of chicken and walked out with Brisket, jerky, NY strip AND chicken. That dang ocean got us lol 10/10 experience. Look forward to becoming regulars. ❤️

Fantastic place. Awesome selection. The meat looks really high quality. The place seems very clean. The service was excellent. And most importantly the prices are honestly very very reasonable. Will definitely be coming back this grilling/smoking season.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I haven't even had the chance to cook our dinner yet, but I already have to highlight the outstanding customer service from Ocean and the rest of the team. This was my first time visiting Southern Steer, and the experience was exceptional from the second I walked in. Ocean greeted me immediately, coming right around the counter to welcome me and create a truly personalized experience. He took the time to answer all of my questions in depth and made fantastic recommendations tailored exactly to what I was looking for. If the food is half as good as the top-tier service, we are in for a great meal. Highly recommend!

I was actually heading to a completely different butcher shop yesterday, but I passed this spot and decided to take a gamble. I even ended up chatting with the ownerI was actually heading to a completely different butcher shop, but I passed this spot and decided to take a gamble. Best detour ever. The customer service was top-tier, and the meat was fresh. I even ended up chatting with the owner, who gave me the full scoop on where they source everything. With all the chaos and mystery surrounding food sources in the US right now,(especially meat) he completely put my mind at ease and assured me that this is 100% top-tier, quality meat. Zero gatekeeping, just total transparency. I googled where the founder stands so I'm good with that ❤️ I walked out with fresh ground beef, thick-cut bacon that means business, and some margarita lime wings (which are absolute fire, by the way). If you’re anywhere near McKinney and need a reliable butcher, stop sleeping on this place. Plus, it’s a Black-owned local business that actually deserves every bit of the hype. I’m officially a regular now!
