I used to come to this Chick-fil-A frequently, and there were not separate ordering and pickup lines before. So when I pulled into the line I normally always used, I had no idea it was now the pickup line. As soon as I realized I was in the wrong line, I asked the employees if I was, and they told me yes. At the time, my toddler was in the backseat crying hysterically. I asked if there was any way I could just place my order there rather than having to drive all the way around and get back in line. I was told no and that I had to go back around. What made this so frustrating was that the lines literally ended up merging anyway and there were zero cars In the other line it wasn’t like I was cutting in front of anyone or anything. Not once did anyone try to offer another solution or even mention that I could place a mobile order. I was simply expected to drive around and wait again while my toddler was screaming in the backseat. I completely understand that employees have procedures to follow, and I wasn’t asking anyone to break some major rule. But there was absolutely no empathy or effort to help. When a customer is clearly struggling and has a hysterically crying child in the car, I would expect at least a little compassion and an attempt to find a solution. I wasn’t intentionally in the wrong line. I was a regular customer who went through the same line I had always used because the setup had changed. Once I realized my mistake, I asked for help, and instead of anyone trying to make the situation easier, I was basically told, “That’s your problem, go around.” It honestly left a really bad impression on me. Chick-fil-A is known for customer service, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Being told “no” is one thing. Being given absolutely no consideration or alternative when there clearly could have been one is another. This could have been handled so much better.
