  It was our first visit to The Toasted Yolk Cafe, and we stopped by during Texas Tech graduation weekend for Saturday brunch, so the restaurant was understandably very busy. Rather than wait an hour for an indoor table, we chose to sit outside and were seated immediately. The outdoor patio stayed shaded the entire time, which made the experience comfortable despite the typical Lubbock wind. The food was excellent. The cheese grits were especially good, and my custom omelette was cooked perfectly. The kitchen was generous with the meat, cheese, and spinach fillings, which made the meal feel like a great value rather than skimpy brunch portions. Even with the heavy crowd, the service moved reasonably quickly overall. The only minor inconsistency was that some servers seemed noticeably faster than others in getting orders and items to their tables. Still, it was a very good first experience, and I would definitely return.

  My family and I love coming to eat at toasted yolk! We have always received the best service, food and we love that the wait is never too long when they’re busy! I wanted to recognize Brooklyn specifically, she was super sweet and patient with us when we encountered a slight issue. & She made sure to meet every need. THANK YOU BROOKLYN!! Toasted yolk is a highly recommended place to eat 🩷.

  The AC was blowing hard today n our table. I’m a hot blooded person but got cold for the first time in a long time. My granddaughter had to put a coat on. Food got completely cold before I even got half way done eating. The manager refused to turn it down. No customer focused at all. This was my first visit and possibly the last.

  Im in love with the food here but today I called to place a to-go order. The hostess kept hanging up on me so I gave it one last try. When I called she had an attitude and placed me on hold for 17 minutes and 28 seconds. When I finally got someone I had already arrived at the establishment. They were busy but that’s no reason to be rude on the phone and short with me. The sad part was it was the hostess and the manager I was speaking to on the phone that were being short and rude. Overall I like this place but they need to check themselves. I might not come back to be honest. I hate rude people!

  Me and my sister have came here quite often for breakfast. Today we went in and had the Breakfast Quesadilla and Avocado Toast. First I want to start by saying I have never been to a restaurant that puts almost a whole bowl of Guacamole/Avocado on toast. Most places put a generous spread on some toast but not Toasted Yolk they put chunks of Avocado and barely any toast. We had waited for our server to come back around to let her know my sister was unsatisfied with her plate but didnt have her return to the table till I was finished with my Quesidilla. My sister had work and was on a time crunch so didnt want to order another plate and when complaining to the manager how she had only eaten the eggs the manager stated it was a new policy that they could not compensate customers for plates even if we didnt eat it. Ive been in the service industry for 15 years and never heard of such a policy. This is giving horrendous customer service. Im sorry but we will be taking our regular business elsewhere and for newcomers who are simply wanting to try something out or try something new I advise stay clear of this place as they will charge you for a plate even if you hate it and dont eat it. Ridiculous and simply trash.
