1 Star – Extremely Disappointed
Yesterday morning, I placed a DoorDash order for myself and my coworkers to be delivered on base. The order was ultimately canceled because the Dasher didn’t have base access. DoorDash refunded that order, and I moved on.
Later that evening, I placed a completely separate DoorDash order to my home. This order only contained two items. When the Dasher delivered my food, I immediately realized something was wrong. The receipt attached to the bag showed it was from 10:34 a.m. it was my canceled order from that morning, not the order I had just placed.
I called the Dasher first, and she confirmed she delivered exactly what the restaurant handed her. She wasn’t at fault.
I then called the restaurant. I was told they keep DoorDash orders in a warmer. My question was simple: If DoorDash orders are sitting in a warmer, does no one verify the ticket, the order time, or how long the food has been sitting before handing it to a driver?
That is my biggest concern.
The receipt clearly showed the food was prepared around 10:34 that morning, yet it was still sitting there around 6–7 p.m. and was handed to my Dasher as if it had just been made. Whether it was in a warmer or not, that’s approximately 8 hours later. At that point, I wasn’t interested in eating it because I had no confidence in its quality or freshness.
Food quality matters just as much as food safety. Warmers are designed to hold food temporarily—not for an entire day. If an order has been sitting there for hours, why is it still available to be handed to a customer? Why isn’t there a quality control process to verify the order ticket and ensure the food being handed out is the correct, freshly prepared order?
The solution offered to me was to drive to the restaurant myself to pick up the correct order. That completely defeated the purpose of paying for DoorDash. I live approximately 20–25 minutes away, so instead of relaxing after work, I had to get dressed and drive because of a mistake the restaurant made.
When I arrived, I was told my new order had “just come out” and that they accidentally grabbed the older order from the warmer. While I understand mistakes happen, this wasn’t just a simple mix-up. The larger issue is that an order from nearly eight hours earlier was still sitting there waiting to be handed out. That should never happen.
What disappointed me even more was the lack of accountability. There was no sincere apology, no attempt to make things right, and no offer to compensate me for the inconvenience.
To make matters worse, DoorDash also refused to compensate me for the second order, even though the receipt attached to the bag clearly showed a 10:34 a.m. timestamp and listed completely different items than what I had ordered that evening. The evidence was literally attached to the bag, yet I still paid for a delivery service I didn’t receive and had to drive to the restaurant myself.
I’ve always enjoyed Little Jamaican’s food, which makes this experience even more disappointing. However, good food means nothing if there are concerns about quality control, freshness, and customer service. This experience has caused me to lose confidence in how orders are handled, and unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
