Had a great experience at Gloria’s in Katy! The food was delicious and everything came out fresh and full of flavor. I had the carne asada, and it was cooked perfectly—tender, well-seasoned, and a very generous portion. The black beans, rice, plantains, and yuca were all great complements to the meal.
The atmosphere was nice, the restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a great spot for a good meal with family or friends.
We really enjoyed our visit and will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend Gloria’s in Katy! 🙌🔥

I have always been a Gloria’s Latin Cuisine fan. In fact, it is one of my favorite Latin restaurants, and my family and I regularly visit other Gloria’s locations where we have always received excellent food and customer service.
Unfortunately, my experience at the Katy location was completely different.
We visited around 7:00 PM after shopping because my children were hungry. We waited about 25 minutes for a table, which was perfectly fine since we expected good food and great service. Sadly, that was not the case.
After being seated, we were served chips, beans, and salsa. The first disappointment was the beans—they had almost no flavor. I’ve eaten at other Gloria’s locations many times, and the beans have never tasted like this.
Our server took our drink order and then our food order. My nephews wanted pupusas, but the menu only allows you to order them in sets of three. There wasn’t an option to order just two pupusas. Even though the children would only eat two each, we still ordered two full orders because there was no other choice. It would be nice if the restaurant offered more flexibility for children’s portions to help avoid unnecessary food waste.
For my 10-year-old son, I ordered the kids’ nachos and asked if they could add beef for an extra charge. The server said yes. However, when the food arrived, they served him an adult-sized nacho plate instead of the kids’ meal. At the Gloria’s locations I usually visit, they simply charge extra for the beef while keeping it as a kids’ meal.
The biggest issue was my own meal. I ordered the Carne Asada, which costs about $20. It comes with steak, rice, plantains, and yuca. I asked if they could replace the plantains and yuca with one pupusa, and I even offered to pay the additional charge.
The server said he would ask the manager. He came back and said it wasn’t possible because the plates are pre-set. I asked if I could simply pay the difference since I was removing two sides from my plate. He apologized and said the manager refused.
Since I’ve made this exact substitution at other Gloria’s locations many times without any problem, I decided I didn’t want the Carne Asada anymore.
What surprised me most was that the manager brought the Carne Asada to the table anyway. I explained that I had canceled it after being told the substitution wasn’t possible. Only then did she tell me they could add a pupusa as an extra. By that point, the meal was already on the table. That conversation should have happened before the food was prepared and served, not afterward. It felt very unprofessional and poorly managed.
Overall, the service was disappointing from beginning to end. Between the lack of communication, inconsistent policies compared to other Gloria’s restaurants, the flavorless beans, and the poor customer service, this was easily the worst experience I’ve had at any Gloria’s location.
Sadly, because of this experience, I will not be returning to this location. I hope management improves both the customer service and the quality of the food. Based on my experience, this location does not reflect the standards I’ve come to expect from Gloria’s Latin Cuisine.
