I had a great experience at True Texas BBQ, and Lauren made it even better! She was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful from the moment I ordered. She had such a positive attitude and provided great customer service, which you don’t always get everywhere these days. She made sure everything was right and made the whole experience enjoyable. Great food and even better service! Thank you, Lauren! I’ll definitely be back!

Gabe at H-E-B True Texas BBQ has been absolutely amazing! We had a very specific requirement for our brisket, and Gabe took the time to listen, understand exactly what we were looking for, and make sure everything was prepared accordingly.
He went above and beyond to provide us with a custom brisket that met our requirements perfectly. His attention to detail, patience, and customer service were outstanding. It’s not often you come across someone who genuinely takes the time to make sure the customer gets exactly what they need.
Thank you, Gabe, for the exceptional service and for taking such great care of us. Truly a 5-star experience!
Chopped brisket sandwich was ok. Not terrible but I won't be back. I can much better elsewhere. Covered in bbq sauce before you get it. To me that's not a good sign. Typically means they're covering it because it's NOT true barbecue. There was no bbq taste. Taste like maybe it comes in a bag and they reheat. I didn't realize that before hand so i got extra ssuce to take with. It was awful. Didn't taste like what was on the sandwich. It tasted very odd and way too much chili powder. Im glad i got the Sandwich from the restaurant because in the grocery section it's two dollars more. I would've been angry had i paid ten and it tasted the way this tasted. NO MA'AM! Didn't like their twister fries either. They weren't fully cooked.

For those that haven’t tried the HEB BBQ before as I hadn’t till today, here’s what happened to me:
5 people were in line ahead of me, yet it still took nearly 10 minutes to get to the front of the line and place my order. I ordered a 2 meat plate and a bottled HEB Dr B from the cold case. The meat plates are price strangely. First there’s the $6.50 charge for the 2 meat plate, then the there’s an additional charge for each meat. In my case it was $7.25 for ONE SLICE OF BRISKET, and $9.25 for 4 ribs. My total was $28.12! Apparently the $6.50 was for the sides which is a savings of 24¢ each over ala cart. In my case, I noticed I was charged $2.98 for the house brand soda rather than the $1 posted on the case. I pointed it out and started a literally 20 minute, 2 manager, 1 cashier circus to get a friend of the difference. They were polite, but by the time it was done I only had 10 minutes to eat and get back to work, and my food was cold from waiting on my refund. Next time I’ll buy the ready to eat pulled pork sandwich and just eat it in their dining area!! Worst of all, the BBQ, while not bad, was far from $28’s worth. I’ll go to Soulman’s next time I want BBQ and leave HEB for my groceries! HIGHLY DISSAPPOINTED!!

Don't know exactly what I expected from a BBQ joint inside an HEB store, but I definitely expected more (maybe because HEB has pretty high standards.) Anyway, it's a clean and efficient place, especially as BBQ joints go. That's the upside. Otherwise, it's best described as "meh." Standard stand in line service, they call your name when it's ready. Got a two meat plate for $20+. One quarter pound meat plus 2 sides, pickles and onions and bread. I asked if their jalapeños were fresh or pickled. Fresh! They answered. OK, can I get jalapeños instead of pickles? Yes! They said. I am the apparently rare bird that values the sides (in most BBQ joints, very much uninspiring afterthoughts) as much as the meats. Since I eat a low carb diet, , I usually go for cabbage, collard greens green beans, coleslaw slaw, etc. I was very interested in trying the collard, bt they were out of those. At 5 minutes past noon. The only option left for me was the "Caesar Slaw"-- which neither counterterrorism had any idea hiw to describe. I went ahead and got a double helping it turned out to be, fairly predictably, slivered cabbage etc in a brand Caesaresque dressing. The meat (fatty prome brisket and burnt ends) was juicy but somehow lacked much flavor. The portions are small and somewhat overpriced. If the meat is $25-30/ pound, then the coke slaw was about $12 for two small cups of it. I left and went to buy meat and cheese from the deli to account for my unsaturated hunger. Oh, and I got pickles instead of jalapeños. When I went back to get jalapeños, I got pickled ones. Not fresh ones. I was told these were "fresh."
