I really wanted to be a fan, but my wife and I were really disappointed coming here. I haven’t been to a Papas BBQ in a long while but feel like the quality use to be a lot better. Pros -Brisket/chopped brisket was good. -Habanero sauce was solid. -My wife said the cucumber and green bean sides were good. Cons -The baked potato and brisket potato size was lacking…not bad, but for $19 I expected more. -Sweet tea wasn’t sweet. -The Dr Pepper wasn’t good. -The ribs were trash and might have been some of the worst ribs I ever tasted. They weren’t tender and the taste was bland. We won’t be returning…at least to this location.

For the price, the quality of food and service should be much better. When you pay $16 for a sandwich, you expect more than a cold dry bun and a very thin layer of greasy cold chopped beef. The vegetables on the condiment bar were well stocked but everything else was lacking. And this was not at a busy time. There are places with better food that is served hot or at least warm at a better price.

Never been one to leave negative reviews but decided to visit Pappas BBQ on a mid week evening. The restaurant didn’t have any brisket left which they so heavily advertise. My granddaughter wanted some macaroni and cheese and they were out of that too. We were a party of six and only two of the six actually placed an order for hamburgers which were really nothing to rave about. Sorry Pappas but you’ve lost six customers all in one evening.

I stopped by Papa’s Bar-B-Q in Humble after they reopened following their remodel. They had a Restaurant Weeks display right up front, so I decided to give the special a try — sandwich, fries, and a soda for $15. When I ordered, I simply asked if I could get my sandwich on a different bread. I was told, “No substitutions.” Seriously? It’s bread, people. I wasn’t asking you to reinvent the sandwich or substitute pulled pork for lobster — I just wanted different bread. Maybe it sounds like a small thing, but that’s exactly the point. Refusing such a simple request just comes across as unnecessarily petty and not very customer-friendly. Especially after a remodel and reopening, you’d think the goal would be to welcome customers back and make them want to return. Well, if we’re going to be petty over a piece of bread, I can be petty too. There are plenty of barbecue places around here happy to take my money. I won’t be going back.

I went when it first reopened a few months ago and the service was terrible. It took a very long time to get a pulled pork sandwich. The manager made it right and apologize for the service. I chalked it up as just new people not trained properly. Went back today two months later and the same thing. Walk up to the counter where the salads are and the two girls are just staring at each other like they don’t know what they’re supposed to do. I have to finally speak first and ask him about the menu items. Every question I asked the girl she didn’t know the answer to, asked her about wings. She didn’t know the answer asked her about the sauce. He didn’t know the answer. I asked her how many came in order. She didn’t know the answer. She had to ask the person next to her, and she was just making things up from the top of her head you could tell. I asked for the manager and they looked me like I was the problem. I’m done with this place two strikes and you’re out.
