We were in the area so we stopped here for supper. They only have 1 large menu on a board behind where you order. We ordered the Holy Cow burger & the Shroom burger, onion rings & tots are extra. The burgers were about $13-14 each & the o rings & tots were $3-4 each. So for us 2 we spent $45, which is a bit for 2 meals & cokes. The Holy Cow burger was good & greasy. My husband liked his burger, he said it was ok. The o rings were nothing to write home about, just plain old onion rings. The tots had processed canned cheese on them. Blah. The employees there were really nice & friendly. Very helpful & a pleasure to deal with. There’s a handful of parking spaces out front other than that you park on the street. We probably won’t go back but it was worth a try.
A Piece of Neighborhood History
Visiting Stanton’s was a deeply nostalgic experience for me. I grew up in this neighborhood, and back in my elementary school days, this was our local corner store. I have such vivid memories of running in here with a dollar for candy and cookies while my granny picked up her beer and cigarettes.
While the neighborhood has gone through a lot of gentrification and the shop has transitioned into a burger spot, the "soul" of the building is still there. The floors still have that same familiar creak I remember from when I was a kid, and I thought it was a beautiful touch that they kept the original antique register on display. I do wish they had kept a small section of the "corner store" concept alive, but I’m glad the building is still a staple in the community.
The service was fast, and the guy at the register was cool and welcoming.
The Burge was flavorful and seasoned well, though the bun was toasted just a little too hard/crunchy for my preference.
The waffle fries were the highlight—perfectly hot, fresh, and crispy.
It’s rare to find a place that can take you back to your childhood while still serving a solid meal. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth stopping by for the history alone.
Great neighborhood burger joint, Stantons was rating Best in Houston way before all of these new "cool" and over priced burger places even thought about opening there doors. In other words Stantons wrote the book on what a hamburger should be.
I personally like the blue cheese and bacon burger with the tater tots, don't sleep on the tots here!
I love the fact that its still family owned and they haven't sold out and the owner has no greedy children to try and expand and lower the quality for larger margins (ie Lankfords Grocery)

10/10
Stepped into a Time Machine & walked into a 70-80s Diner with a PHENOMENAL BURGER 🍔
Wish I would’ve taken pictures of the atmosphere bc it’s a whole vibe! 🤙🏼
they also have the glass Cane Sugar Dr.Peppers in their fridge next to those cool Coca Cola Modern Soda Machines, best of both worlds -new school & old school with a Classic Banging Burger is how I would describe Stanton’s 🔥

Stopped by for lunch and left completely impressed. The service here is genuinely friendly and fast – from the person taking my order to the team bringing out the food, everyone made me feel like a regular on my first visit.
Now, the burgers: easily some of the best in Houston. I tried the Holy Cow – a house-made beef patty topped with candied bacon, a crispy hash brown, and American cheese. The patty was juicy, perfectly seared, and full of beefy flavor. The candied bacon added a sweet‑savory crunch, and the hash brown gave it a fun, satisfying texture. Also sampled the Spicy Chipotle Burger – great heat without overpowering the meat.
Buns are soft and hold up to all the toppings. Curly fries and tater tots were hot, crispy, and well‑seasoned.
Overall, Stanton’s is a no‑frills, old‑school joint that puts real care into its food. Great service, incredible burger quality, fair prices. Highly recommend for anyone craving a legit, satisfying burger in the Heights area. I’ll be back.
