These stores have all of your info, because you "have a card" or "are a member" So what is the point of digital deals. There is no more information to gather to "serve you better". The only one that benefits is the retailer. Ther advertise items at a lower price through a digital deal. A somewhat small percentage of people "forget to clip" or miss the fine print associated with the "sale". When that happens, you pay more than the low advertised price. Because of these large retailer's volume, those transactions turn into a big bonus for the stores. And we are paying it. It is a quiet rip off.

The deals are absurd, like goddamn, now I'm forced to look at randalls weekly ads because not only are they are affordable but also good quality. Like I'm talking about beating Kroger, H-E-B, and Joe V in term of deals, absurdly outmatch... Now for things that are not on sale, they are a bit lacking in that regard.

Its ownership is divided between legacy private equity firms—most notably Cerberus Capital Management (which holds a major stake)—management, and institutional shareholders like BlackRock and Vanguard. Is that why a bag of chips is $7 and mostly smashed when you open them at home? Or steak is $35 a pound? Sigh...
