  ROACHES- Sanitation and Hygiene Concerns - Gessner & Westheimer Location ​Dear Pappas Bar-B-Q Management Team, ​I am writing to bring several serious sanitation and cross-contamination issues to your attention at your location on Gessner Road and Westheimer Road. I have been a loyal customer of this location for years—dating back to before it became a Pappas restaurant—which is why it is deeply concerning to see these recurring issues. ​During my recent visit, a German cockroach was crawling across our table directly toward our food, forcing us to move to a different table. A few months ago, I also observed a large cockroach crawling on the dining room floor. ​In addition to the pest issues, I have repeatedly observed health and sanitation violations by one of your staff members (an older gentleman working as a busboy) that are likely contributing to these conditions: ​Restroom Hygiene & Contamination: He consistently wears his work apron into the restroom without removing it first. Furthermore, he places his cleaning towel directly on top of the urinal divider wall while in the restroom, then takes that same towel back into the dining room to continue using it on customer tables. ​Cross-Contamination with Cleaning Cloths: He uses the exact same towel to wipe down seating/chair surfaces and the tabletop surfaces where food is served and consumed. Separate, clearly distinguished towels should be strictly maintained for seating versus food-contact surfaces. ​I strongly value this location and hope you will take immediate, corrective action to retrain staff and address these pest control and sanitation concerns. Please let me know what steps will be taken to resolve these matters. If these issues are not addressed promptly, I will have no choice but to report these violations to the local health department. ​Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

  You know I have saw bad reviews on here but I still took a chance on going here since the bissonet location closed and each time for the most part it's been good outside of the ribs not being tender. I guess it was my turn to get that experience. I placed an online order got there put my parking number in and begin to wait. We waited over 15 mins for our food to come out, my husband finally goes in to ask someone how bout they say " I don't know why your asking me" cause you work here "duh" they all looking at him crazy; finally gets a manager to realize the order was missed. They give us the bag we get home and see the food was trash 🗑️ the fish sandwich wasn't fresh it was cold and trust me I know the difference. The fries was cold and undercooked, and that brisket sandwich was terrible dry meat, salty, bread hard. I had that sandwich before and it was good this time terrible. It was meant for me to keep my tip cause I would have been even madder if I had tip for this. 59 it is I'm good on your establishment and what makes it even worst is I could have went to Pappasitos and got me a drink they would never give me food like that. Thanks for the vibe bust.

  Very pleasant experience each time I visit this location my order is always correct and still hot and fresh when traveling back home which is a 35 minute drive home. The manager Janet is always so sweet kind and always have a smile on her face.

  The food is really good. I always come here when I’m craving barbecue. I always come to this location. I’ve never really had any issues here until recently with the busser, His name is Daniel. I politely asked him if he would be willing to clean off the only table that was available and he rudely Ignored me. I asked him again nicely, and he Finally came to clean it. He made it seem like I was Inconveniencing him. I didn’t like the way that he responded or the way that he acted. And normally always come to this location, so I was in shock when I had this encounter because everyone is normally very friendly. Yanira and Pablo are always very kind, so I assume that he would have been as well, but I was wrong.

  I come to this location often, and the food is always amazing, cooked perfectly, and served hot. The service is also very quick. I especially enjoy dining here on Saturdays because Pablo and Yanira are always so sweet, friendly, and helpful. They consistently go the extra mile to make sure we have everything we need, whether it’s refills, to-go boxes, or anything else. They truly make the experience worth it and give me even more reasons to continue coming back every Saturday!
