I’ve been wanting to try Nobu Houston for a long time, and while visiting Houston, I was excited to finally dine here. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing overall.
The atmosphere was great, and the restaurant itself is beautiful.
Service started off poorly. We were initially greeted by a server who asked if we had been before, we both said no, but there was no explanation of the menu or dining experience. He mentioned he’d come back for drinks, but after that interaction we didn’t see him again. We then waited about 15 minutes without anyone returning to our table, no drinks, and no communication. We were close to leaving before another server came over and asked if we were doing okay after noticing we had been sitting waiting. That server was very kind and helped improve the experience, which we appreciated and acknowledged.
As for the food, I wasn’t particularly impressed. It was okay, but for the reputation and price point, I expected better. I’ve had significantly better sushi at other restaurants in Houston for a fraction of the cost.
Overall, I left feeling disappointed given the hype and premium pricing associated with Nobu. As someone who works in the hospitality industry, it was very noticeable that the experience missed the mark from a service standpoint. I appreciate the effort from the second server who stepped in, but I do think the overall dining experience fell short of expectations.

My wife and I went here for a special date night this past Saturday and sat at the bar. Our first time there. Food was good. Things were going well at first then 2 teenagers sat beside us. Nothing was wrong with them, but it was how the staff was acting. There was a bald guy standing behind them and being loud and boisterous, so much so that I thought he was with them at first but I believe was actually the manager. I noticed that the kids had some fancy looking metal chopsticks and said that I liked them. The older one said that the restaurant gave them those chopsticks with their names engraved on them. A few minutes later I jokingly asked the bartender how many times I needed to eat there to get my own chopsticks, and he said “thousands- about 4 times a week for years.” Before the kids got there, we had 3 of the 4 dishes we ordered. I asked twice about our last dish while each kid received 3 separate dishes. Our service halted once those kids sat down. Again, not their fault that they’re rich kids. Instead of staying and having a few more drinks, my wife and I paid our bill and left. Thanks for the reminder that someone’s special night is just another day for others.

Food was amazing, servers were a bit off point (for example served soup with no spoon, we had to wait to get someone’s attention and request it). Mall clientele left something to be desired with kid noise bringing the atmosphere down. For the cost, I would expect more refinement.

We went on a weeknight and it was not busy at all. So service was good and the food delicious. Churros for dessert - yay! What I didn't like: We had a drink in the bar before dinner. The bar has two TVs with sports programming on so you feel like you're in a sports bar. No charm at all. The dining area is one big room which I'm sure would be noisy if it were busier. So the ambiance was a big fail for me. Not a place to go for a romantic dinner for sure.
We are smart/business casual. Jeans are acceptable as long as they are not torn. No flip flops, please.
