  Grabbed a small container of mustard potato salad on a slow Friday. Took one bite, immediately walked back in like a woman on a mission: "Who made this?" Because it tasted EXACTLY like my mother's — and I haven't seen her in a while, missed her on Mother's Day, and suddenly I'm having a full emotional flashback on San Felipe. The staff didn't even flinch. We ended up talking about food, memory, and grief like old friends. The prepared meals are always fantastic. But today this place handed me a hug from mom in a little plastic container. I grew up in the South with a Russian/German/Italian family from Long Island, so when it hits, it HITS. Salt & Pepper, you did that. 🥹🥩

  I recently remodeled my house and had no way to heat food, so I ordered from New York Butcher Shop expecting to pick up dinner a couple days later. They were incredibly kind — they offered to hold my order, heat everything fresh the day I needed it, and have it ready for pickup. That personal touch meant so much to my family during a hectic time. I’ve ordered their crab cakes, which were perfect and delicious, and their pot roast, which was incredibly moist and flavorful. Their sautéed vegetables are fantastic, and I absolutely love the salad too. Everything has been top-notch. Highly recommend — the food is great, but the service is what makes this place special.

  Wow! Finally a real butcher shop in town, quality beef not from the "grocery store" mass produced but proper humane beef without the additives and fillers and the prepared food is a game changer. I'll pay a couple dollars more to live longer. Thany you!

  Knowing the owner for many years, my wife and I stopped by the "New York Butcher Shoppe - Tanglewood" in Houston today. We live about 40 miles away, but wished that the shoppe was closer to us. The meat counter was superb, the variety of prepared meals was great and the other selections were all well thought out. We'd recommend that you make the trip there.
