The food here is amazing. My son and I have gone twice and will return again to continue working through the menu. Although the prices are what you might expect if there were table service, that's not the case. The menu is on the wall behind a counter. You will stand at a register to order your meal and tip before you ever get served. You will serve your own water in a Styrofoam cup. Despite all of that, it's pricey but, the food so far has been really good.

8.8 - really good chicken bahn mi
Just a heads up, you pay up front and after placing your order, you choose your own table. Water is self service too!
I ordered the following:
Lemongrass pork baguette (Bahn Mi)
Pho with lean brisket and fatty brisket
At first I was shook by how a bahn mi can cost 13 dollars and pho can cost 16 dollars. But honestly, the price was pretty justified haha.
Starting off with the bahn mi, there were plenty of pickled vegetables (which were sliced and folded very nicely) and generous amounts of lemongrass pork. The pork was marinated and flavored well- I will say though, although I love the chargrilled/smokey flavor, it was personally a little too strong for me. Everything else about the bahn mi was very well done though.
The pho was delicious. Savory broth and the quality of meat was solid. Not sure if anything beats the OG’s in Bellaire but it’s pretty on par.
Aside from the delicious food, the interior was beautiful. The decorations, set up, bathrooms, etc were all well put together. I hope to come back and try other items on their menu!
People were great, but other than bringing out the dishes, it's an entirely self-served restaurant. I love a restaurant running efficiently like that where they have everything you need stacked on the shelve. However, I don't like it if they still expect to be tipped.
In general, I really appreciated how different they are from the typical Vietnamese restaurants. The rice and vermicelli dishes (the Thai Basil Chicken and Coconut Basil Shrimps) were very flavorful, fresh, healthy, & filling.
However, when it comes to the Bánh Mì, I regretted that I ordered the 👎🏻beef belly 👎🏻based on the reviews. Although the flavor was decent, the beef belly was very hard to tear part with just your teeth 😅😣. I had to use my hands to pull them apart... You can imagine how chewy that was... That really dampened the experience... Furthermore, while I loved the size of the sandwich, but I then realized that the bread was not made of true Vietnamese French bread!!!! 🤯🙅🏻♀️ Nevertheless, I'm willing to give their Bánh Mì another try with pork or chicken.
The bone marrow came out lukewarm. I liked it, but not so much that I'd order that again.
I also wouldn't order the drinks again. Too much ice. The Vietnamese coffee tasted more like powdered coffee instead of freshly dripped espresso mixed with condense milk.
Overall, it's a fun place to try something different.
I've been a regular at Les Ba'Get for years. It consistently delivers quality foods and great service. It is a café style service, so you do have to order at the counter before sitting. Their lemongrass pork banh mi baguettes are FIRE! One of the best you can find in the city away from Chinatown, in my humble opinion. Their pho broth is also incredibly savory and delicious and it is consistently delivered hot to your table. These staples are a must have when you come here. Everything I've ordered here have been delicious. It never misses!
