  A last minute decision ended up being our best dining experience in Houston. Our server Martin was amazing, gave great recommendations and warm friendly service from the beginning to the end (the kind you hope for in Texas). Martin’s excellent service and recommendations, pineapple margarita 10/10, brisket was perfect and best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. Sat on the patio in perfect weather and down-home ambiance.

  Out group of 5 came here for a birthday/Mother’s Day at 5:30 pm and we were very underwhelmed. The brisket queso and cocktails were great, but the rest of the meal was mediocre. Four of us ordered steaks, three of them were overcooked, and the toppings were incorrect. We sent two of the meals back to be cooked to the correct temperature, and when they came back, one of the steaks still had the incorrect topping (ordered without pico but it was still on there). At that point we just wanted to eat sort of together so the pico was just picked off. On the BBQ plate, the brisket was dry and not very flavorful. Then it took a really long time to get our checks/pay. Overall, the experience was not at all what we were expecting from the ‘esteemed’ King Ranch, especially when the total was about $400. :(

  We reserved a table for a party of 11 for a birthday. The food was horrible, we found a hair in one of the entrees. We were told a manager would stop by our table, which never happened. It took over 50 minutes for us to get our food, our waiter only checked on our table twice and both of those times forgot to get our refills. We were so upset regarding the way we were treated. The restaurant was not busy at all.

  We are visiting Houston from North Carolina and this place was just amazing. Lauren was our server and she took the BEST care of us; personal, friendly, truly provided a wonderful experience. And the food and drink, top notch. Some of the best meats (and our table had several different kinds) and they were all amazing. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a friendly, relaxed meal that just happens to be wonderful.

  NY stake and ribs were mediocre, at best. We came from Boston and expected famous Texan steak and ribs. We had way better steak and ribs in Miami, Florida, at Nashville, Tennessee, And even in Boston. My daughter was chewing the piece of New York strip for two minutes and still had to spit out a small piece because it wouldn’t melt in her mouth. Expensive and disappointing experience.
