  So .. my review is based off 3 topics: 1. Cleanliness 2. Professionalism 3. Taste (Professionalism) The overall look of the restaurant seemed neat/organized. The gentleman taking my order (I believe he was Spanish with a well-trimmed beard. Wish I had gotten his name because I was impressed with how groomed he looked especially his beard.🙂) was very funny & inviting. Now, for the not so great professionalism. I am a super smart mouth person, but do it so ppl can't see you.😆 There was a gentleman who insisted he asked for no sour cream on his dish. Now, this incident was not my business, but I observed one of the black women employees with a head wrap & bright nails talking smack with the Spanish woman with auburn hair whose working the front. Now whether the gentlemen was being a douche or not, I should have not seen the smack talking. Do it by the freezer.😆 (Taste) The food was tasty, but due to what I saw in the cleanliness department, I may not return. (Cleanliness) The gentlemen in the kitchen were wearing black food gloves. Why the Spanish woman with the auburn hair was not?? No clue! I observed her handling food bare handed. The fries were wrapped at the bottom, but she was grabbing them from the top.🤢 I observed a container of barbecue sauce falling on the counter & she didn't replace it with a new one. She just put it in the customer's bag. I stood there praying that my sandwich came in a box because I would've refused my food, if she had touched it. I also observed her operating the card machine & receipts while touching the fries again as well as other dine-in dishes. Definitely have to do better in the sanitation department. Cross contamination is a thing.👎

  I don’t like BBQ like that, but I’m now a fan of BBQ! Gatlin’s was fresh, fast, and flavorful! They are very clean as well. I saw them wash the windows twice while I sat inside to eat, lol which tells me they take pride in not only their food but their appearance and appeal. The atmosphere was very calm and they checked on my table in a non-bothering way. The employees are patient and kind to eachother and the cooks looked like they enjoyed their job! I can’t wait to return!

  I go to Gatlin's every few weeks to bring home dinner for my family and occasionally when my coworkers want to do lunch (we work right down the street). Gatlin's never disappoints. I say this even as a vegetarian who goes there knowing it's a BBQ joint and their core menu isn't meant for me (Gatlin's mac n cheese is a transcendent experience. If it were the last thing I ever ate on this earth I'd be a happy camper). So while I cannot personally comment on the quality of the BBQ itself, I can say that my friends and family who do eat meat seem to have some sort of religious experience when chowing down on Gatlin's brisket and ribs. Almost like all troubles in the outside world have temporarily vanished? If the instrument by which we measure the quality of a meal is the degree to which it affects our happiness, then I can safely attest to Gatlin's superior product. Also, the folks who work there are always super nice. Gatlin's is just a friggin pleasant place to visit.

  This is supposed to be good BBQ? Where? I got a beef rib, with a side of macaroni and cheese along with potato salad. The rib was burnt to a crisp on the outside and smelled like lighter fluid. Where they do that at? The sides were bland. I was so disappointed because the food gave the illusion of tasting good because it smelled awesome. I normally don’t leave reviews, but I couldn’t believe the awful taste.

  THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST STOP LOCATION IN HOUSTON! I drove 200 miles to hopefully meet Greg Gatlin and try the family BBQ. I was able to meet mamma Gatlin she was so sweet made us feel like family once we got there. I had 3 meat platter short ribs, pulled pork, brisket middle cut with collard greens side. My wife had fatty brisket her fav. My grandkids had loaded fries and pork ribs. Everything was worth the drive from San Antonio I will make this a regular visit stop when I come to Houston. The food reminded me of the food i used to get growing up 50 years ago definitly the best BBQ I have had EVER!
