Food Town is locally owned and operated, with locations in and around the Houston area. Our goal is to offer all our customers quality meats, fresh produce, and national-brand groceries at competitive prices.
I visited on 5/15/26 with my family. I usually shop here and normally have a good experience, which is why this situation was very disappointing.
While checking out at cashier #5, the cashier named Regina was very rude and unprofessional toward us. I have back problems and was unable to lift a heavy pack of beer onto the counter. In the past, cashiers have kindly scanned it in the cart, which I feel is common courtesy. My elderly mother explained this to Regina, but she still insisted we pick it up ourselves. Thankfully, the employee bagging our groceries stepped in and helped us.
During checkout, I also scanned another pack of beer, and Regina said, “Oh, I didn’t see those beers.” My mother smiled politely, and Regina responded by saying, “I don’t find nothing funny.” Her tone and attitude made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Another customer behind us even changed lanes after witnessing how rude she was being.
We left feeling uncomfortable and disappointed by the way we were treated. I hope management addresses this situation because behavior like this can drive loyal customers away. I will also be contacting corporate regarding this experience. Thank you for your time.

I started grocery shopping at foodtown again because it was in my community..Every time that I gone shopping,I’m constantly being watched..Today was the last straw for me. Soon as I walk in and decide to go down an isle a staff member passes me and checks my basket..Then sucks her teeth..When I’m trying to decide which cooking oil I’m buying, another looks down the isle directly at me..Trying to brush this negativity off,I continue to shop..Once I’m ready to shop,I decide to walk towards an checkout and a staff member puts something one conveyer belt, insinuating that it’s suddenly “closed”.So I go to the third one over because a customer in the next one looked like he wasn’t sure about what he wanted..As I pull up to theb check out,the staff member who closed the first lane actually is watching me as I’m putting my items on the conveyer belt. And I give him confused look..I ask the cashier if there’s a deal for the week..He asked if I put my number in,I say yes..He says he does not have any at his register and I goes to check to see if any other cashier has one..And comes back and says,I was told we are all out.He apologizes..Sorry but I feel like they weren’t telling the truth. I also feel that I profiled and it was the last time for me.

I want to give Food Town more stars, but it makes me sick every time I'm around there because they're constantly playing sounds of birds being hurt and killed, tortured even. Whether or not it's real or simulated is irrelevant, only a sadist would come up with something like that.

So horrible service delivery from this store and the staff Luz Merino. On a fateful day 04-03-2026, at about 7:35pm in the evening, wearing black stripe t-shirt and a hat, I was already in line, waiting to do moneygram payment, when it was my turn at 7:55pm, my bank wanted to verify my payment, I left my phone in the car outside the store, Luz merino said I can go ahead and bring my phone to confirm the text mssg sent by my bank, I quickly ran outside to take my phone, within few seconds, I got back to Luz desk to finalize my transaction. She bluntly close the shelve on me and said they were close, I felt really sad after I had waited patiently in line for over 30mins, Luz Merino refused to complete my transaction. I felt completely down. It’s a disaster to continue to Allow such person to render service to people that treat fellow human being like animals and lie to customers.
