His kindness, professionalism, and customer service made a huge difference in what was otherwise a very uncomfortable experience. We walked in around 8:50 PM, under the impression that the restaurant closed at 10 PM, as stated on both Google and the restaurant’s front door. There were already a few customers ahead of us, so we patiently waited our turn. When it was finally my father-in-law’s turn to order, the young woman taking his order (unfortunately, I didn’t catch her name) had a very unpleasant attitude from the beginning. As he was getting ready to pay, she abruptly told him, “The food will be to go,” without offering any explanation. When we asked why, she responded rudely, “Because we are closed.” Now, I completely understand that employees have closing procedures and that working late can be exhausting. However, there are much more respectful and professional ways to communicate that to customers, especially when the posted business hours indicate that the restaurant is still open. My father-in-law didn’t complain, but it genuinely bothered me to see how he was treated. What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that, while we were waiting, we repeatedly heard this same employee asking her manager, right in front of customers, “Can I clock out now?” We also noticed someone arriving at the front entrance who appeared to be waiting for her. I understand wanting to finish your shift and go home. We’ve all had long, exhausting workdays. But when your job involves customer service, treating people with basic kindness and respect should still be a priority. Customers should never feel like an inconvenience simply because an employee is ready to leave. Thankfully, James completely turned the experience around. When my partner asked him whether the restaurant was already closed, James responded with such kindness and professionalism. He explained that they were getting ready to clean up but reassured us that if we wanted to stay and sit down, we were more than welcome to do so. That simple interaction made all the difference. It was honestly disappointing to see such a drastic difference in customer service between two employees at the same establishment. One made us feel like we were being pushed out the door, while the other made us feel welcomed and respected. James deserves recognition for his outstanding customer service and leadership. He handled the situation with patience, kindness, and professionalism, and I truly appreciate that. I hope management takes this feedback constructively because my intention isn’t to get anyone in trouble, but rather to emphasize that the way customers are treated matters just as much as the food itself. Thank you again, James, for turning an unpleasant situation into a much better experience!
