  It was an ok experience. Jennifer, needs a lot of work in customer service. I was buying everything my party had selected. Instead of asking are all y'all together, she just shoves a piece of candy in her mouth & rings up my order. She gives me a total. I ask if she got everything (including the people with me)? She nonchalantly says yeah. I pay. My party ask about their items. We ask where the rest of the order is? She goes, "Oh, I thought y'all were separate." She rings us up for the rest of the items. Again, I pay. I ask for both receipts. Jennifer tells me, "No. I can't give you both receipts. I can only give you the receipt for this order," before dismissing us. My nephew wanted a coffee before we left. I ask the coffee maker if we can get a receipt & she tells me "no" as well. I decided to buy a couple of stickers. A lady in a red shirt rings me up. She asks about the service I've received. I explained about the cashier, the receipt and the hassle I've received. She prints the receipt & says she would talk to the staff. We left with a bad taste. I'm unsure if we would return, as we drive 39hrs (1 way), to try to make a new memory...

  I use to come here often as a kid with my family and had even been in the last year with my family with wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, I don't know what happened but it is no where near as good as it use to be. The ice cream had the consistency of taffy. We had to chew it. The chocolates were just very sad as well as their candies. I was extremely disappointed in the quality and flavors of the desserts. Sadly, I will not be recommending my family return here during our next trip.

  The two girls working behind the candy counter today (9/23) were AMAZING! They were so kind and patient, answered every question I had, and directed me right to exactly what I was looking for! They honestly made our day so much better. It’s not often that you have a customer service experience that leaves you walking out happier than you walked in, but they absolutely did that for us. Excellent customer service and easily the best candy shop I’ve been to in Galveston so far! (And I’ve tried several lol.) 🍭🍬

  It’s great to see a place where you can step back to a more simple time. Watching taffy work on a 100 year old machine is just so satisfying to watch. The gentleman working the taffy was kind and explained several aspects of the process. It was a pleasant surprise to receive free samples of the fresh taffy. This ice cream is good, and after trying three different flavors (three different visits), I would say the cookies and cream is my favorite. Everything in the store looked so appealing. I’ve never seen so many choices of candy and fudge. The one negative is that I noticed the ice cream servers were not very friendly. Our server seemed irritated to be there and never greeted us or even asked what we wanted. He just stood there staring at us with a blank look on his face. I know it’s hard to find good help, but managers should pay close attention to employees as they are the “face” of the business. There are other ice cream choices on Strand, but we chose to come back to this one.

  I love this place and have been going to it for years. I’ve also always been treated well. I’m not exactly sure why I had this kind of experience but the group of young boys/men that worked on Labor Day were the meanest group of workers I have ever encountered. The guy asked what I would like to order and for some off reason when I began speaking to him he looked away and wouldn’t look back at me. It kind of threw me off because I wasn’t sure if he was listening to me so I stopped speaking, and then he rudely said “I’m listening.” So I thought okay I misinterpreted the situation and it must’ve been frustrating for him that I stopped speaking mid order. So I began telling him my order again and AGAIN he looked away as I was speaking to him and it appeared like he wasn’t listening to me. So I asked him, “are you listening to me because I can’t tell”, and he was so mean about it and said that he was, and I told him that I was sorry I just couldn’t tell bc he kept looking away as I began speaking to him. So…once again I began to tell him my order, which was two scoops of two different kinds of ice cream. I got through telling him the first ice cream flavor I wanted and now this time he suddenly walked away as I was in the middle of telling him the second flavor, and began serving me only the first flavor I mentioned to him. He didn’t wait for me to even finish. I was so confused and was wondering if maybe I had done or said something to him that was mean and hurt his feelings. He then handed me the ice cream cup, and I was so embarrassed to tell him this, but I said that I wanted to add a second flavor, but he had walked away before I could finish telling him my order. He did apologize and served me what I had been trying to order this whole time. I don’t think he liked that I told him he walked away before I could finish speaking, bc then he began loudly telling my dad - who was still being served and hadn’t even made it to the cash register yet - “sir it’s $35!” over and over again. I was so confused and shocked at the way he was yelling at my dad, so I told him to please stop talking to my dad like that and wait for him to finish bc he had yet to make it to the register bc he was stilling waiting to receive the ice cream he ordered. I asked him “why are you guys being so mean to us?” and I kid you not, he started making fart noises at me with his tongue and the other young men there just stood and didn’t say anything about it or at least tell the guy to stop. I honestly could not figure out why he was being this way and once again I thought that maybe I had done or said something that came off as mean. I again told him to stop being so mean and rude and at that point my dad just told me to stop arguing and walk away, so I did. It was the most humiliating thing because it was in front of a bunch of people. It made me really sad and lowkey cry a little haha (I’m a crier though). But anyways, the point is that while this is an incredible place, be careful of the young boys working the ice cream counter! I’m not saying don’t come to this place, but just be prepared or proceed with extreme caution when dealing with them. They’re not very kind people and they may not make you feel very welcome. I’m not sure if I’ll be coming back bc I was so embarrassed by this whole experience and still to this day do not understand why this gentleman acted like this. I will probably peek in and see who’s working the ice cream counter before deciding if I go in or not, since I don’t want them treating me this way again.
