Waited 20 minutes for drinks though we were right beside the bar. Manager was working the bar. Once we finally placed our order it was almost an hour before our food came out and they did not bring the food for our 2 children. Finally got one of their meals after another 5 minutes or so then the other never came until I spoke to a manager then still had to wait 10 minutes. Ordered 2 steaks at our table…one was way underdone and the other was at overdone though both were ordered medium rare. The server was absolutely pleasant but seemed to not be able to keep up. We were stacking our own dishes and handing him things to make it obvious we needed things picked up. Never refilled our waters though that was what several of us were drinking with our meal. Food was okay but not great. I expect more from a Landrys restaurant. We will not be going back there. The manager did deduct 1 of our steaks we had to send back and the 1 child’s meal that barely made it before we were ready to leave. Took that to go actually. For 5 adults and 2 children with only a few getting alcohol and 2 appetizers (and even with deductions for the issues) it was almost $400. Way too expensive for what we received - food and service. Oh - one more thing - there is no parking so you either park on a curb really far away and walk or park in a paid parking area for Pleasure Pier which is right next to the restaurant.

The food itself was good, but the service and value were very disappointing. We paid around $30 for what was supposed to be a large order of popcorn shrimp, yet received only about 20 very small shrimp—roughly the size of a dime. Our waiter was also inattentive. We had to ask another server just to get our drink order taken, and it took nearly an hour to receive our food, which consisted of only the popcorn shrimp and a baked potato. I specifically requested no onions on my baked potato, but it came covered in onions. To make matters worse, I watched the kitchen simply pick the onions off instead of preparing a new potato before serving it back to me. Overall, the food tasted good, but the poor service, long wait, small portions, and lack of attention to food requests made for a very disappointing experience.

So, I arrived at the restaurant. The atmosphere was not very comfortable. The staff seemed very distracted. I was seated and the service was absolutely horrible. Terrible service. The food was not that good. Messy food and not prepared well. All I wanted to do was pay and leave. I left the standard 20% tip. But the server did not earn it, I left it because I feel obligated to. I will not go back to this restaurant at all.

I was very disappointed with my experience at Fish Tales. The oysters were stuck to the shells and did not seem fresh at all. The food was extremely overpriced, and the portion sizes were much smaller than expected for the price. I also ordered an alcoholic drink, but it tasted like it had little to no alcohol in it. Overall, the quality of the food and drinks did not justify the high prices. The only positive thing about this restaurant is the beautiful waterfront view. If you're planning to visit, come for the scenery, not for the food. Unfortunately, the dining experience did not meet expectations, and I would not return.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fish Tales was easily my favorite restaurant that I ate at during my 7-day vacation in Galveston. From the food to the atmosphere and service, everything was excellent. I ordered the Broiled Trio, which came with a huge salmon fillet, seasoned rice, sautéed vegetables, four grilled shrimp, and a crab cake. The salmon was absolutely amazing—tender, buttery, and practically melted in my mouth. The grilled shrimp were juicy and flavorful, the crab cake had a great texture, and the vegetables were perfectly sautéed. We also shared fried onions and pickles as an appetizer, and both were crispy, hot, and delicious. I tried one of my grandma’s coconut shrimp and it was perfectly breaded and crispy with a great coconut flavor that wasn’t overpowering. Fish Tales also has a great selection of specialty summer cocktails and a menu that offers a good variety of both fried and grilled seafood without being overwhelming. The atmosphere was fantastic with fun beach décor, a cool spinning fish sign on the roof, and a great location just down the street from Pleasure Pier. The restaurant is two stories with outdoor seating upstairs, and the food came out quickly. Our server and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and even took the time to explain the Landry’s rewards program. I also loved the Blue Bell ice cream bar downstairs. Being able to grab a scoop of ice cream, an ICEE, or even a banana split was a great way to end the meal. Overall, Fish Tales was the best restaurant I visited in Galveston and my favorite Landry’s location so far. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re visiting the island.
