Edit/Update 5 hours later: I was irritated and hungry when I wrote this review about a bad breakfast, now I’m frankly disgusted by the lack of integrity and morals of this place. I have a feeling when you contacted DoorDash Merchant Support and told them that my issues were the driver’s fault (I left the same review), not yours, so they would remove my review, you didn’t know they’d be calling me to ask me about it first. I clarified on the phone with them that the driver did nothing wrong (I already gave them 5 stars). The driver did not burn my food, suck any sweetness or toppings off a frappe, or turn creme brûlée filling into soup, all of which they agreed with and assured me the driver would not be penalized for.
Finding out that you wanted to blame an innocent delivery driver who would receive penalty for this, rather than just taking the review and learning from it is truly awful behavior. Your response here (as of now) is pretty clear that you know that you have responsibility in this, you just wanted to blame someone else so the review would be removed. Absolute lack of integrity. I genuinely do not care about the money or a refund, it makes no difference to me. You really should reflect on what kind of a business and person you want to be.
Original Review (5 hours ago):
I was pretty excited about this place, and even had it saved in my DoorDash cart to order on my day off. There's not another word to describe it, it was just really, really bad. Every item has an issue. Fair warning- I’m now out $25, hungry, and uncaffinated while writing this.
First, the “red velvet” frappe, which I paid extra for, was completely melted (I live 2 miles away and my order arrived within 10 minutes of pick up), and tasted only of bitter coffee. I can't taste or see any hint of anything else, no sweetness at all, especially not red velvet. There wasn't anything on top of it, maybe I missed somewhere to add whipped cream, but it's pictured in the description, so I assumed it would be on it. I just threw it out after really trying to drink it, but it was just bad that I couldn’t.
Second, the scone was burnt and crunchy, I taste the burnt bottom of it more than any blueberry. Again, couldn't get through more than two bites. Why serve something that very clearly has an issue.
Last, and most disappointing, the crème brûlée croissant pastry, “Croissbrulee”. It looked great online, and crème brûlée is my favorite flavor/dessert. A pretty important part of a creme brûlée dish is that it's a custard base which has to be served cold, (otherwise it would be a soup), with a caramelized sugar top. The photo shows a solid cross section, so I didn't think this would be a liquid, and the description is a “Buttery flaky handmade croissant pastry filled with handmade creme brûlée”. This pastry was warmed, so I got a box covered in about half of the warm custard, and the rest spills out of a rubbery crust.
Absolutely, incredibly disappointing. If an item can't be delivered well, it shouldn't be an option to order it for delivery. The description should be changed to just say custard filling, not call it crème brûlée.
This ruined my morning, now I'm hungry and uncaffinated.
I’ve been coming here consistently for years, and they are always wonderful! The drinks, hot food, and pastries are consistently delicious and fresh. Everyone is super nice and genuinely friendly.
It’s family-owned, and the owners are often on-site and very welcoming, which makes the experience even more special. This place truly feels like a hidden gem - warm, cozy, and inviting!
They also host events for small businesses, which makes them a great addition to the community. I always make it a point to come support them.
Plus, their prices are very reasonable, especially compared to other places that keep raising theirs. Highly recommend! Thank you World Blend Team! :)
