Sad I never had the chance to eat here unless its managed to still be opened. RIP Denton's On The Border and all the other locations too, especially Collin Creek Mall's location in Plano too....
Have not been to an On the Border in many years. Was pleasantly surprised with the changes since the new owners took over. Food was great, service was great.
We had a very disappointing experience here. The restaurant was nearly empty at 8pm, yet we waited over 15 minutes before our server even greeted us. After ordering, it took another 10 minutes just to receive our drinks.
The server also seemed confused about a simple combination fajita quesadilla order. While waiting on our food, we saw a roach crawling on the booth in front of us and there were large gnats flying around the dining area. To make matters worse, the manager laughed and joked about needing to call an exterminator instead of taking the issue seriously.
Unfortunately, between the poor service and cleanliness concerns, we will not be returning.

I arrived at the restaurant and noticed that I was not offered chips like the other customers at the bar. I observed that others were served chips before ordering, so I asked if it was optional. Even so, I placed my order and left my tip as usual. I just wanted to mention the difference in treatment, since as a customer you expect to receive the same service as everyone else.
Well, I heard that this place was bought by Pappasitos and so we went to have the half-price fajitas on a Wednesday night and the place was a mess. I just assumed it was because of the rush on a deal. The food was actually good, but the service was meh. But, the more I looked around, the more unsettled I become. There was just a lot of chips and debris everywhere. But, the food was decent so I ordered to-go for Mother's day. I went and picked up the food and I was grossed out by the kitchen entry. Grime coated the base of the door and it was that kind of grime that you know could be cleaned with a good scrubbing, but it had been allowed to build up for months.
The to-go counter was greasy and behind the register it was dirty with a straw wrapper. Again, the more I looked, the more I was just grossed out. I wish I had not spent the $112 for a to-go order. On an up-note, my dogs feasted like kings.
Please clean the place up, maybe shut it down for a month and do a remodel and a deep clean and then it would be worth going to, because the fajitas were pretty good. Especially the carnitas.
