The food was good, but the service was disappointing.
We were NOT made aware of the automatic 20% gratuity until after we had already tipped separately on our individual bills. When we brought it up, the hostess and managers had a really poor attitude about it. There was also a bug in one of our drinks, and two of our friends’ pink lemonades came out after we had already finished eating. At that point, they should’ve just been taken off the bill. As a group of hs seniors, we honestly felt like we were treated differently because of our age. Overall, the service completely ruined the experience.

I went to Palma today for my friends birthday brunch and everything was going well until we all get to the end to split the bill and then there’s a random $69 that we have to pay mandatory tip? after we already did the regular tip. They coming up with fake stuff to get ppl to pay more and then the manager or whoever that was wanted to have an attitude like we making her work there ain’t nb told yall try to take more money from us and you prolly wouldn’t have heard nothing from us AND we also found a BUG in my friends drink so NEVER AGAIN!

We were very excited to come today for my mom's birthday. Due to being a Wednesday I called before noon today and asked if a reservation was needed, I was told by the lady that answered the phone that a reservation for 6 people was not needed. We showed up at around 6:45pm only to be told by the front staff that it would be a hour wait. I explained I was told by someone earlier today that I didnt need one. We sat outside.
We really love the place but it was uncomfortably hot today.
Even if its Wednesday i would say to make a reservation..
Jorge the server was really good!!

Came in this morning (8/15) with a reservation and arrived about 20 minutes late, so I mentioned it upfront out of courtesy. Since it was fairly empty and there were plenty of open tables, I was a little thrown off when the hostess immediately suggested I sit at the bar instead. I politely asked if there was a table available, and I was eventually seated, but the interaction felt unnecessarily annoyed and unwelcoming.
My server, however, was good and provided great service. Unfortunately, the initial interaction with the hostess set the tone and took away from what otherwise could have been a really nice experience. I hope the front-of-house experience can be improved because the food and server were good.

The vibe and aesthetic at Palma are really nice and definitely appealing, especially for brunch. It’s in a good location in Deep Ellum, which makes it a convenient spot with a nice atmosphere. The pricing is also pretty reasonable for brunch.
However, the staff’s appearance really takes away from the experience. The dress code, or lack thereof, doesn’t seem to match the aesthetic of the restaurant. Seeing staff in house shoes, gym socks, sweatpants, and dirty T-shirts is not what you expect when dining somewhere with this type of vibe. A more polished and cohesive look would really elevate the overall experience.
Another area that could be improved is the food options for guests who don’t eat pork. There aren’t really any pork-free alternatives without an additional charge. I was charged $8 for chicken skewers, and while the price itself wasn’t terrible, the chicken wasn’t seasoned, which made the upcharge feel less worthwhile. It would be nice to have turkey, chicken, or another non-pork option available without an additional charge.
Overall, I’d give Palma about 3/5. The location, atmosphere, and brunch pricing are definitely positives. I’d probably return, if the staff presentation better matched the vibe of the restaurant and they offered more reasonably priced pork-free options.
