So you want me to talk about food, don’t you?
Well, sorry, but you have to wait.
So I walked in at lunchtime, after having walked all the way from my hotel for half hour under the Texas sun. “Sweaty” would be a euphemism. I was a walking river.
And the lovely lady at the cash desk first offered me napkins and kindly directed me to the restroom. “Go on, freshen up, I ain’t going nowhere”. Then she waited for me with a glass of iced water. Saw her talking to and joking with the other customers, a unique one-lady-show. “I’m not leaving till we have a selfie together”, I told her.
“Where are you from?”
“Romanian, living in Switzerland”
“See”, she said to her colleagues, “at least we got the continent right”.
I ordered, she took my name and even when the place was full and she was serving other customers, she would ask me how the food was, always using my name, which is such a nice touch and 100% natural, nothing forced.
Upon leaving, her colleagues wanted to know if I had enjoyed lunch, why I was in Dallas, what my job meant, taking real interest and not just chitchatting.
So do you still want to know about the food? How do you think food tastes in a place where people take such good care of their customers?
Of course it was amazing. And huge portions. I had the brisket and the ribs, together with one pulled pork taco. Flawless.
Will be back for more.
“Make sure you post that selfie”.
Well, I don’t have social media, so this will have to do…
