Blue Sushi is one of my favorite restaurants and my usual location is the one on Walnut Hill where the staff is super friendly and the food is always amazing. At one point I was going once a week and the servers even recognized me and knew what I wanted to order. Since relocating for work I've been visiting this location on McKinney and each visit has been very disappointing. Service is extremely slow. One time it took my server 10 minutes to even introduce themself and bring water. My server is currently chit chatting with a customer while all of her tables are actively looking around for her. My itchy salmon is overcooked each time I order it and the quality of rolls just don't taste the same. There are fruit flies hovering around me as I wait for my to-go roll to come out. I had to order it to go since I spent half my lunch break looking for my server to order. Being that I love the other location so much I figured the first bad experience here was just a one off, but it just keeps happening. I will continue to go to the Walnut Hill location but McKinney needs some help.

I love this place so much! The sushi is always amazing and their happy hour you literally cannot beat. The managers are always smiling and helping the severs and bartenders as well. You never just see anyone sitting around not doing anything. I live the atmosphere and it’s such a cute place to meet the girls , have date night , or simply a solo date at their bar. I continue to come here and I will as long as the service and quality stays this great !

I actually love this location. The problem is that I’m not sure how they choose to seat their guest on a waitlist. I was told the patio was closed, but the host would find out if they would open it because I had my dog with me so I went ahead and put my name on the list. She said it was a 45 minute wait. I went back to check about 10 minutes later to see if it was OK for my dog and I to be on the patio she said yes but it’s still going be 45 minutes bc there were 33 parties in front of me. I said OK that’s fine. So I waited outside and about 10 parties went in and all got sat before I could sit on the patio with my dog after confirming it was OK. So all this to say, someone needs to reeducate the host on how to seat tables.

My niece’s fruit in her bento box had mold on it and the waitress just picked it off. We also got two kids drinks with dirty cups and when we pointed it out and sent them back, we were brought back the exact same dirty cups. Although our waitress was nice, we were left unattended for stretches of time and it was difficult to get attention. It took a really long time to get the drinks and extra stuff we had asked for like trainers for the chop sticks for the kids and/or forks, some refill requests never even came out, there were a few things that came out a lot

Lonnie here. This is actually my first review. I rarely leave reviews for any place, whether my experience is great or negative. I’ve always preferred to speak directly with management about my experience in person. But this time, I felt like I needed to put it in writing. So forgive the length, but this must be said. I have been a regular at Blue Sushi Sake Grill in Uptown for a little over a year now, and when I say regular, I mean I’m there at least four days a week. I’ve celebrated my birthday here, introduced countless friends to this place, and somehow those friends have now started coming back without me! 😂 That alone says a lot about the kind of experience this location creates. The food is consistently great, but what truly keeps me coming back is the people. Tess and Jacob are absolutely extraordinary, and so is the entire staff. I’m terrible with names, so forgive me for not naming everyone, but I have always been treated with genuine kindness and made to feel welcomed. Tess, in particular, is one of the best managers I have ever encountered in the restaurant and hospitality industry. She understands that great hospitality isn’t just about serving good food. It’s about making people feel seen, comfortable, and taken care of. The staff here will genuinely go out of their way to make your experience your experience. At this point, they know exactly what I want when I walk through the door. Jacob knows my favorite cocktail is the China Doll and will have it put in as soon as he sees me walk in, and they know I’m getting my cucumber-wrapped fresh salmon rolls. 😂 I’m a creature of habit, and they know it! But even though they know my routine, they’ll still sometimes ask, “Do you want me to put it in now, or do you want me to wait?” I love that because they know me, but they never just assume. There’s still that level of respect and personal attention. And that attention doesn’t stop once my order hits the table. Even though I’m a regular and they’ve served me the same things countless times, they still make sure my order is correct. They still check that everything tastes right and that I’m happy. I can be there for two hours or more with my laptop getting work done, and nobody makes me feel rushed or like I’ve overstayed my welcome. Whether I’m sitting by myself at the bar or at a table working, someone will still come by just to check on me: “You good, Lonnie?” They know sometimes I’m busy and just need a place where I can work, eat, have my drink, and be at peace. They give me that space while still making sure I’m taken care of. That balance is incredibly difficult to find. What makes this location especially meaningful to me is something that may sound simple, but isn’t: I feel safe here. It takes a lot for me to become truly comfortable in a space, and once I find one, I am incredibly loyal to it. Blue Sushi Sake Grill in Uptown has become one of those places for me. I can walk in alone, bring my laptop, sit down, get some work done, relax, eat, have a drink, and simply be at peace. I feel welcomed. I feel comfortable. I feel at home. I’ve brought friends here who felt so comfortable and enjoyed themselves so much that they became customers themselves. They literally started coming back without me. 😂 That speaks volumes. There are plenty of restaurants with great food, but it is rare to find one that consistently creates an atmosphere where you genuinely feel like you belong. For me, Blue Sushi Sake Grill Uptown is more than somewhere I go to eat. It has become a little home away from home. Tess, Jacob, and the entire team deserve recognition because what they have created here is something special. After countless visits over the past year plus, the level of care has never changed. They still check on me. They still make sure my order is right. They still make sure my experience is great. Every single time. That kind of consistency in hospitality is hard to find, and it’s exactly why I keep coming back. Thank you for always making this regular feel at home. ❤️
