  If you visit only one French bistro in the area, make it Madame Brioche! A Real Hidden Gem, right here in Conroe. We had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at Madame Brioche Bistro! Every single dish was executed near or to perfection. As soon as we walked in we were greeted warmly, and treated more like an invited dinner guest than a restaurant customer. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The front of the menu is a good selection of French bistro dishes and the back of the menu is the only surprise…pizza, a Rueben sandwich, chicken wings, and host of American comfort food. We started our meal with the escargot in pastry dough, and it was spectacular. The escargot was tender, swimming in a rich garlic-herb butter, and encased in a beautifully crisp, flaky pastry shell. It was nice to get escargot served in crisp pastry instead of the standard “paint” dish. Then, what trip to any French restaurant is complete without a bowl of French onion soup? The soup did not disappoint. Rich, with a good amount of onions fueling that bone broth with an earthy flavor. Good solid soup. For the mains, we tried both the mussels and a classic comfort dish, and both blew us away: The star of the show was Mussels in a Cream Turmeric Sauce: The mussels were plump and fresh, but the real star was the broth. The addition of turmeric to the classic French cream sauce was pure genius, adding a beautiful golden color and a warm, subtle depth of flavor. This bistro does the turmeric in cream without overpowering the flavor of the seafood. Excellent. We needed a plate of bread just to soak up the remaining cream sauce. Beef Bourguignon on Mashed Potatoes: This was incredible. The beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, rich, and deeply flavorful, served over a bed of perfectly smooth, velvety mashed potatoes that soaked up all that amazing red wine reduction, near perfect . This is also available served on linguine, I was told. Between the exceptional food, and the wonderful people providing the great service, it is a must visit… Maybe weekly!

  The food was amazing. The service was impeccable. My only not really complaint, but just suggestion was the atmosphere. The radio music was playing kind of loudly and it just didn’t go with the vibe of the restaurant. To set the mood of a French bistro it seems like more suitable music could be played that was a little softer and more background rather than blasting radio music with advertisements.

  We really wanted to have a nice time here for our family brunch, but the whole experience was just a letdown. To start, the food really wasn't anything special—honestly, it was pretty underwhelming and not worth the price. But we probably would have just brushed that off if it weren't for a petty and frustrating situation with our bill. My sister-in-law ordered a lemonade for her 3-year-old, and since it was a pretty big glass, she just poured half of it into an empty cup so her 4-year-old could share it. We didn’t think twice about it. But when the check came, we realized the restaurant had taken it upon themselves to charge us for a whole extra lemonade just because she split the one we ordered between the two little ones. No one ever came to our table to ask if we wanted to purchase a second drink, nor did they warn us that sharing a kids' beverage would result in a hidden fee. When we politely brought it up, our waiter dug his heels in and stood his ground. We assumed a manager would step in with a bit of common sense, but to our surprise, the manager completely defended the waiter's decision to slip the unapproved charge onto our check. It feels incredibly petty to nickel-and-dime a family over a shared toddler's drink. We ended up just paying for the extra cup to avoid making it a bigger hassle, but between the disappointing food and the lack of hospitality, we won’t be back.
