Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.

It doesn’t seem to matter how polite or respectful you are—they often have an attitude, and my order is wrong about half the time. I kept coming back simply because it’s the closest location. On 7/29, after working a 14.5-hour shift, I stopped by on my way home because I just wanted to grab dinner and get to bed. I was on the phone with a friend while I was in the drive-thru, and she even commented on how different the employee’s tone was compared to mine. Despite the employee’s obvious attitude, I remained polite and respectful throughout the interaction. When I got home, I looked at my receipt and saw that she had entered my name as “Karen.” They ask every customer for a name, and mine certainly isn’t Karen. After treating the staff with nothing but kindness and respect, seeing that on my receipt felt like a deliberate attempt to mock me. That level of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. Everyone has bad days, and I understand customer service can be stressful. But customers shouldn’t be treated with disrespect simply because an employee is having a bad day. I can overlook the occasional incorrect order, but intentionally ridiculing a customer crosses the line. This experience was incredibly disappointing, and I won’t be returning.
