The Chili Cheese Dog
This is a "knife and fork" situation—or in this case, a plastic fork situation. The bun has completely surrendered to the weight of the toppings, which is honestly exactly what you want from a premium chili dog. The chili looks thick and meat-forward, lacking that overly greasy sheen you sometimes get at fast-food joints. Combined with the heavy melt of the cheese, every bite looks incredibly rich.
8.5/10. It’s chaotic, it’s messy, and it was delicious.
The Fried Pickles
The coating on the pickle chips looks solid. It’s got that beautifully textured, cornmeal-adjacent or seasoned flour batter that hints at a serious crunch. They aren't overly greasy on the outside, and pairing them with ranch is the definitive way to go.
This is pure comfort food executed well. You're going to need about fourteen napkins to get through it, but it looks entirely worth the mess.

“A friendly smile, a great shake, and… well, some other things happened too.”
If customer service earned grades, the girl behind the counter would be graduating valedictorian. Seriously — friendliest part of the whole meal. You will be promoted to tip when paying like a lot of places now.
Went to wash my hands, you can watch the cook through the glass whitch is a cool touch, the kitchen looked clean which was reassuring, the bathroom itself however, not so much.
The burger, showed up dressed like it was headed to a condiment convention. Ketchup and mustard everywhere, like it slipped and fell into both bottles on the way out. And the onion rings? I thought more should have come for the price. The few that did make it to the tray landed squarely in the “meh” family. I also tried a few of my son's frys which they did give him more of, they were also nothing to write home about.
Then came the Dubai Shake, which was so good it felt like it wandered in from a completely different restaurant. Rich, sweet, and easily the highlight of the visit.
And here’s the kicker: for what they charge, you’d expect the food to at least pretend it was trying. This place is overpriced, and not in the “artisan, handcrafted, farm‑to‑table” way — more in the “wait… I paid how much for that?” way.
All in all: friendly staff, great shake, old time vibe but the food was too hit‑and‑miss and way too pricey for what you get. Weren't hamburgers and frys the tasty value food wayback when? Not here.
I probably won’t be back voluntarily, but I’ll happily recommend the shake and to ask for easy sausees on the burger to anyone passing through.

Hands down some of the most delicious burgers I have had and the bacon cheese curds are the best I have ever had. Staff was so polite, definitely coming back.

Krystal and her chef went above and beyond to make our first Wayback burgers experience the absolute best. We came in wanting to take it to go and ended up doing crossword puzzles, word searches and having great conversation. 10/10 will definitely be back!

Fresh ingredients on a soft bun. I don’t know how to make a better cheeseburger. I might be having an inappropriate relationship with the cheese curds.
