Yesterday, May 12, I ate my lunch here after visiting the Blanco State Park. It wasn't planned, but I arrived just as their door opened at 11 A.M..
I went up to the front to see the offers from a hanging blackboard. This isn't my first time because I visited when it first opened and many times later.
On the left of the blackboard is the " Kid's Menu." A child can feel very comfortable here because this eatery has peanut butter and jelly sandwich plus other items too.
Here are assorted fish tacos for adults and children.
For adults there are many sandwiches, hot and cold, salads, and hamburgers.
There are sides too. And an enclosed case of sweets, like assorted cookies.
There are flavored coffees. And alcoholic drinks.
One orders and pays for your food from the 2 cashiers at the counter. There's a tip jar there too.
I ordered a tuna fish sandwich because I was interested in its ingredient, shredded carrot.
Years ago, while in Honolulu, I had also had a tuna sandwich with sliced carrots. It was very tasty.
With my above sandwich I asked for potato salad and unsweetened tea. I was handed a glass of iced cubes and was told my table number.
On a side counter are the metal canisters filled with teas, lemonade, water, etc.. Along side are the condiments like cut lemon pieces, sugar, napkins, seasonings, utensils, plastic cups, tops, straws, etc.
I found out today on a telephone call, that a customer is entitled to second drinks and there are plastic cups with tops to take out.
As I wait on my duet table with its oil cloth covering, I noticed on a wall there are still paintings for sale by local artists.
Too, colorful oil cloths can be cut in the shop connected to the restaurant.
On the back wall, 2 very large screened TVS have been added.
There are public restrooms here.
I'm facing the opposite wall and as I have 20/70 vision I can see it clearly. Here are t- shirts for sale. Written there is an afternoon Happy Hour featuring unique drinks like Lavender Lemonade, Lavender Margaritas etc.
There's an evening event Trivia.
My meal is brought out with napkins and a knife and a fork. As usual the plate looks very creative, tasty, and appealing to the eyes ! I enjoyed my sandwich. And yes, I have had many different meals here, all very good and tasty.
Rebud Cafe goes for inventive creative foods, all of its ingredients always mixing well together.
I do hope if one is traveling or visiting Blanco, you will come in and try this eatery. You won't be disappointed.
I wish to add that on May 12, 2026, I had an unsettling incident with another customer. Before I say what it was, I want to say that the restaurant knew nothing about this until I phoned this morning on May 13, 2026. Perhaps someone would have noticed if they had their employees go around with pitchers offering tea or water. But this isn't done anymore.
I was sitting at a duet or 2 seat table eating my sandwich. Suddenly a woman is standing where the second seat is. She is directly across from me. She has closed her lips tightly, pinched her nostrils while she stared harshly at me. This went on for several minutes and then she left.
It was if she wanted to demean me, to embarrass me, to upset me. But really it was a mean and malicious act because she did it to me in front of others. And worst she didn't care how her actions would affect me !
I couldn't ask her any questions or even talk to her because my mouth was full of food.
This incident left me upset because prior to this account I had been enjoying my time at Blanco State Park and then later at Redbud.
None in my opinion has any right to hurt others in words and actions.
I have forgiven her, but I haven't forgotten it. And I won't because I have a photographic memory.
I'm going to end this with an unusual warning for all those persons who have dark hair. Wear a scarf, a hat,a wig, when you eat at Redbud Cafe because this same woman may come up to your tables and do her uncaring actions to you too !
