Bun Bo Hue taste mediocre. You have to pay $1.50 for a bottle water or nothing. Not worth coming back. Probably worst Viet's place in town. The waiter was enthusiastic to serve and sing to a different table in the restaurant but not minding us if we’re comfortable with the sound or not.

Went here 2 hrs before they close during weekdays and there were few costumers. I love eating in not so crowded resto’s. Also, the crew/owner were responsive and warm. The place is cozy. I brought my family and they loved the foods. I also love that they close later compared to other Vietnam resto’s across Austin. Will surely comeback again
Today I went out to eat, but the pho was really disappointing. There were only a few tiny pieces of meat, the broth was way too bland, and the overall quality was really bad. They charged $15 for a bowl, which might seem cheap at first, but honestly, I don’t think it was worth the price. They even charged extra for the drink
!
We had a unbelievable experience in a negative way.
To start, I was craving a thập cẩm (combination) plate, but the menu photos and descriptions only showed the fried egg and meatloaf with the shrimp plate. I specifically told them I wanted the egg and meatloaf, and they told me to order the beef plate to get these items despite what the menu days. When my food came out, it was actually pork without either item. I didn't mind the protein swap, but when I asked about the missing egg and meatloaf, they changed their story and said only the pork plate came with them. Well, they accidentally served me pork, and I still didn't get the egg or meatloaf. Then he told me what I had on my plate was beef 😂. The owner then just walked back into the kitchen. It honestly felt like they were doing everything possible to avoid admitting the menu and their explanation were inconsistent.
Thinking it was a language barrier (although I speak Vietnamese) we told the waitress, and she was very kind and genuinely tried to help, but the owner simply didn't want to honor what I ordered. She even took my name and phone number so his daughter could contact me, but I never heard back. I supposed that's fine but I really wanted them to hear the feedback because they're brand new and menu inaccuracies are easy fixes.
The next day, I saw them running Instagram and Facebook ads offering a $50 dining credit for people to come eat and post positive reviews on social media.
I'm usually very understanding and don't believe the customer is always right, but I don't understand how a business expects to keep customers by treating them this way over something so simple.
I don't typically like leaving negative reviews, especially for local Vietnamese restaurants, but I feel like this one needs to be said.
I wanted to order 2 combo bun plates, but they weren't available on the website for some reason, so I went to the restaurant instead. I arrived right when they opened, expecting a quick pickup since it wasn't a big order. Instead, I waited 45 minutes for my food. During that time, the server never checked in with me or gave me any updates. I was basically ignored the whole time.
What made it worse was watching about four tables of dine-in customers who arrived after me get served before my order was even ready. When my food finally did come out, there wasn't so much as an apology for the wait.
To add insult to injury, I didn't realize there was a "Take Away" fee added to my order until I looked at my receipt afterward. It's not something that was disclosed upfront. I had already added a tip on top of that, which honestly made the whole experience feel even more frustrating once I saw it on the receipt.
I won't comment on the food itself since I was picking it up for friends, but based on the service alone, I'd think twice before ordering takeout here again. If you do, budget in extra time and double check your receipt before you leave.
