And the Beer is always ice cold! Thank you Desiree for reminding me about the happy hour prices on the icy cold beers on Tuesdays! She’s great like that. ;)
- JCJoJo C5 days ago5.0Yesterday we had a true “Texas” pit smoked restaurant recommended to us. It was good but this place is so much better to our Aussie palates. Desiree on the counter was an absolute ray of sunshine. So friendly, hospitable and kind. The loaded chopped brisket baked potato feee both of us! So many options and choices and very easy on the pocket at more than half the price of yesterday’s lunch. While it’s a “chain” it’s certainly delicious and the smell of “smoke” as you enter gets your taste buds watering. Yummy.

It’s not Franklin’s or Leroy and Lewis, but it will satiate your smoked meat desire if you don’t expect it to be a Texas Monthly top 50 place. However, where True Texas BBQ really shines are the sides. I can honestly say the fried okra is some of the best I’ve ever had. The cornmeal coating is not too heavy and doesn’t over power the okra, and the seasoning is just right. The beans are peppery and perfect. The potato salad is awesome. I even like the fried green beans. Sometimes we just order sides from there while we’re shopping for groceries above. So convenient.
