Restaurant Review: Austin’s Very Own Saltt
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5 Stars)
The Good:
Atmosphere & Music: The vibe inside is fantastic. The music—filled with great R&B and feel-good throwback tracks—sets a wonderful, relaxing mood the moment you walk through the door.
Service & Hospitality: The staff and service are top-notch. The team is welcoming, friendly, and attentive, ensuring you feel taken care of during your visit.
Drinks: The specialty drinks and daiquiris looked vibrant and popular among guests, adding a fun element to the overall experience.
Areas for Improvement:
Seating: The seating arrangement and chair comfort could use a serious upgrade. The table seating felt quite tight and restrictive, making it uncomfortable to settle in and enjoy a meal comfortably.
Pricing: The price point is on the higher side—likely influenced by the location’s overhead—and while patrons don't mind paying for quality, the overall value needs to match the cost.
The Food (Fried Fish): Being someone raised in Louisiana who is accustomed to a rich, authentic seafood environment, the fried fish missed the mark. While the portion size was decent, the batter was entirely too tough and hard to chew, making it a struggle to get through. Adjusting the battering system to yield a lighter, crispier, and more tender bite would make a massive difference.
Overall Verdict:
Saltt has an incredible atmosphere, great music, and wonderful service, which makes for a pleasant environment to hang out in. However, because the food execution on the fried fish and the physical comfort of the seating fell short, it wasn’t quite the complete experience hoped for. With a few adjustments to the menu execution and seating choices, this spot has a lot of potential.
