Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. It all started when a young entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customers couldn't help but exclaim, “What a burger!” He named his humble burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, “Whataburger.” Over six decades later, we're still family owned and operated. Each and every Whataburger® is still made to order. We still use 100% pure beef and serve it on a big, toasted five-inch bun. And now, as we proudly serve burgers, chicken, salads and breakfast at more than 800 Whataburger locations across the country, that first burger stand is still close to our hearts.
Had to speak spanish to put my order in. Still got it wrong. Whataburger used to be top tier, worst burger I've had at a whataburger so far

I like Whataburger food. Their fry sauce is to die for! I didn't grow up in Texas so moving to Amarillo from Utah was quite the experience when it came to this fast food restaurant.
I was inundated with recommendations to go try Whataburger and saw that it was a true cultural icon here. My daughter-in-law has a Whataburger tattoo on the back of her leg. I mean, this place must feed it's ride or die supporters something miraculous. Right?
Because of that build up from my Texas family and friends, I expected to eat God's gift to fast food but it wasn't. Unfortunately, the first thing that I had was a chicken sandwich and the bun was very dry. The whole sandwich was dry. I loved the fries and the fry sauce and there were a couple of other things that I enjoyed. I guess you had to grow up here to appreciate it like everyone does.
But before y'all come at me, I have grown to love it over the almost 17 years that we have lived here. There are some very delicious options and I do highly recommend Whataburger. Do I understand the cult classic following? No. But I was never here to experience it throughout my life. There were restaurants in Utah that I grew up with that I'd give anything to go back and eat from. I'd imagine it would be the same if a Texan went up there and tried the food that I grew up with. It might not be so fabulous to them.
All I can say is that I'm happy to live near all of these Whataburgers because they really do serve yummy food. Just like anywhere, you'll find your favorite things to eat. Fast service and yummy to boot.
