  Español abajo: We came to here on the recommendation of a friend who had been here several years ago and was traveling with us on our backpacking trip through Wyoming. He remembered the restaurant fondly, and on this visit he actually enjoyed his meal and thought his dish was very good. My experience, however, was a little different. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a nice atmosphere and décor that definitely catches your attention. We arrived during happy hour looking forward to relaxing, having a good meal, and enjoying the evening. Unfortunately, it was obvious that they were very short-staffed. We arrived around 8:00 p.m., and our food didn’t make it to the table until approximately 9:15 p.m. I completely understand that things can get difficult when a restaurant doesn’t have enough employees, and I try to be understanding about situations like that. Still, waiting more than an hour for our food definitely affected the overall experience. For me, the most disappointing part was the food. I say this from the palate of an authentic Mexican who grew up knowing these flavors and has certain expectations when ordering traditional Mexican dishes. I ordered La Tampiqueña. While the food did have flavor, I expected much more. The sirloin portion was surprisingly small compared with what I’ve traditionally been served at other Mexican restaurants when ordering this dish, and unfortunately, the meat was also dry. The enchilada didn’t quite convince me either. The flavor reminded me more of something prepackaged or straight out of a box rather than a freshly prepared enchilada with the homemade, authentic flavor I was expecting. The rice wasn’t the best either, and overall, I felt the plate was missing that special touch I associate with good Mexican cooking. That being said, I wouldn’t write this restaurant off. I’d be open to coming back and trying other items on the menu. One dish doesn’t necessarily represent everything a kitchen has to offer, and the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere that makes me willing to give it another chance. Llegamos aquí por recomendación de un amigo que había estado aquí años atrás y que nos acompañaba en este viaje de backpacking por Wyoming. Él guardaba un buen recuerdo del restaurante y, de hecho, en esta visita disfrutó su platillo y le pareció rico. En mi caso, la experiencia fue diferente. El restaurante es muy bonito, con un ambiente agradable y una decoración que definitivamente llama la atención. Llegamos durante la hora feliz con ganas de disfrutar la noche y conocer el lugar. Desafortunadamente, se notaba que tenían muy poco personal. Llegamos alrededor de las 8:00 p. m. y nuestra comida no llegó hasta aproximadamente las 9:15. Entiendo que cuando faltan empleados las cosas pueden complicarse y trato de ser considerado con eso, pero esperar más de una hora por la comida definitivamente afectó nuestra experiencia. En cuanto a la comida, para mí fue la parte más decepcionante. Lo digo desde el paladar de un auténtico mexicano, acostumbrado a estos sabores y a lo que tradicionalmente se espera de ciertos platillos. Pedí La Tampiqueña y, aunque la comida sí tenía sabor, esperaba mucho más. El sirloin me pareció demasiado pequeño en comparación con las porciones que tradicionalmente sirven otros restaurantes mexicanos con este platillo, y además la carne estaba seca. La enchilada tampoco terminó de convencerme. Tenía un sabor que me recordó más a algo preparado o salido de una caja que a una enchilada fresca con ese sabor casero y auténtico que esperaba. El arroz tampoco fue el mejor y, en general, sentí que al platillo le faltó ese toque que para mí distingue a una buena comida mexicana. Eso no significa que descartaría el restaurante. Al contrario, sí estaría abierto a regresar y probar otras opciones de su menú. Un solo platillo no necesariamente representa toda una cocina, y el lugar tiene un ambiente que invita a darle otra oportunidad.

  I ordered a taco salad online, carry out I requested Xtra olives….there were….NONE I requested beans & rice on the side..NONE I requested beans in the taco salad…NONE I requested sliced avocado….NONE

  Food was sub par. The waiter took forever to get simple items or didn't bring them at all. My menue item called for avocado I ordered extra avocado it came with 2 very small thin slices then tried to charge me extra. My friend ordered a quesadilla and the tortilla was not toasted but raw. The spicy pineapple margarita taste great but hardly any alcohol, was more like juice. Very disappointed 😞

  Food: Prodigious quantities, delectable flavor, traditional and impressive presentation. Con: A plate had a chip. Please discard that dish. Service: Sabrina, our waitress, provided the most exemplary service i have had in over 20 years and took excellent care of my family. Personable, knowledgeable, courteous, and understood the Old World values that made American dining a global standard. Cons: Please provide more napkins. Atmosphere: Fairly warm setting with a carefully segregated bar. Unlike so many restaurants, the firewall between the two was well done. The lighting was better than others, but still uses warm glow LEDs. Please switch to incandescent, add more table lighting, and lower height of the lights to enhance that cozy and intimate feel.
